136 now goes to Elephant

It will do from Saturday, following the 343 route between Peckham and the Elephant providing much required extra capacity.

Credit also to Peckham and Brunswick Park Ward Councillors and GLA Member Val Shawcross who campaigned with local residents to highlighted the issues with the woefully insufficient capacity on the 343 between Peckham and Elephant and Castle, the 136 is following the 343 route between Peckham and Elephant and Castle.

Good for the passengers of the 136! Hope there will be a similar extension to the 63/363 to HOP for the Ginger Line.

It's a long enough route already. whilst the extension may have benefits it will overall make the route less reliable and more early terminated journeys.

If I recall correctly, it comes at the cost of a reduction in the frequency of the 343 on the Peckham to New Cross Gate section even though the congestion downstairs - people with shopping/buggies - often doesn't really ease off until the Nigel & Surrey Road stops.

The 343 is losing one morning peak journey to City Hall. The addition of the 136 will give an extra six buses per hour on top of the 343.
