Just for the record, I've not excused his behaviour anywhere. On Facebook I immediately posted saying he's clearly got something wrong with his head.

But equally I think people are getting a bit carried away.

He's made an absolute fool of himself AGAIN, and on the world stage. He's probably screwed his chances of a great move to Real or somewhere. He'll no doubt receive a pretty hefty punishment, but all this "ban him for a season or for life" talk is stupid.

I agree with Otta on this one. He's obviously a bit nutso and should be banned but I think spitting at another player is worse and there have been pundits on our screens who are no strangers to that charming habit (giving and receiving).

He didn't break the skin so it's no more painful than those through-the-shirt-nipple-tweaks we've seen players give opponents when they "help them to their feet" - it is just bizarre and dumb and pointless and a bit feral.

Still - anything to distract folk from the woeful showing of England again - good job Costa Rice were taking it easy.

It's a completely unnatural move for a footballer. Elbows, tackles dirty or not arise from the vocabulary of football moves

First things first. I totally disagree with maxxi, and why he's mentioned Englands showing at the WC in this context is beyond me. Nor do I understand the comparing what pundits have done in the past to his behaviour. Regardless of their behaviour, Suarez is out of order. Put whtaever others have doen to one side for the moment, we are discussing Suarez here. Not what pundits may or may not have done in their careers, that's a seperate discussion. Oh and Pardew "there's too many foreigners in the league" was/is and always will be a fcuk wit.

Because headline writers can enjoy demonising the man who knocked England out and now it's all that's being talked about - I bet England are glad it happened.

Because their inclusion on tv as respected pundits shows that things that are deemed unforgiveable now will BE forgiven in the future.

A 6 match international ban and a fine and possibly some counselling and let's move on.

In their defence, what do you say about this guy who has biten on three separate occasions? It's outside of the norm so they say "it's a disgrace" because saying "maybe he needs some professional help" is outside of their remit.

Yes I'm a Liverpool fan and yes I hope he's either available for us or we get some dosh for him, but that is not what I'm basing my opinion of here.

And genuine question here, when a player has done something really bad during international duty, have they been banned at domestic level? Honest question because I can't remember.

Having had a little scrote spit in my face a couple of years back, I'd honestly take the bite every time.

If bitten like the player was tonight I'd have probably responded like that player. If someone spat in my face I'd jave struggled not to punch them right in the face.

Your kids will probably do worse things than bite people but you wouldn't shrug it off either

And it has nothing to do with him playing in England. God but Liverpool supporters can be chippy sometimes

If my kids do something wrong they get an explanation as to why its wrong.

If they do it again, they get told off.

If they do it again they get punished.

If they do it obsessively they should probably get a doctor, but I'd avoid activities which encourage it until we get some sort of clean bill of health.
