bon3yard
Anticipating the onset of another great depression and an age of unparalleled austerity I've got ahead of the game by giving up my bright, sunny togs and adopting sombre Greys, Fauns and Khakis. I've also regrettably had to switch my weekly shop from Fortnum & Mason to Waitrose! The family are understandbly devastated and things only got worse when I informed them of my intention to sell Land Rover No4 to clear some space in the forecourt for a chicken coup. Thats my tale of woe, whats everyone else giving up? :( Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4488-yum-credit-crunchies/ Share on other sites
Keef
I sh!tting myself that I may have to trade in my Gibson for an... I can barely bring myself to say it... an Epiphone!! h the shame :-$Could be worse though, some Fender fans may have to go Squire! Brendan
Don?t worry keef. The price of luxury items during a recession drops dramatically so you won?t be able to flog the Gibson for much anyway. May as well just keep it. In fact if you want to invest in something like a classic guitar or classic car etc and you have some spare cash banging about, the next 6 months are the time to do so. Don?t put it on your credit card mind. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4488-yum-credit-crunchies/#findComment-144881 Share on other sites
bon3yard
Tell me about it Land Rover 4 has depreciated by 40% in 2 years! Terrible. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4488-yum-credit-crunchies/#findComment-144884 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Actually, a Squire with replacement pickups is quite a reasonable instrument. You might want to replace (or lock down) the tremelo too.I can see you with an Encore guitar, Keef. Brendan
Look: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7705727.stmSome buggers still have millions to spend on cars. Although a ?55 T-bird going for under ?20K is something. They only made that model for 2 years. Brendan
Speaking about luxury items which one may or may not be able to afford during a recession is on topic. Banging on about whether or not a thread is on topic is however completely off topic. Come on bonner you started this thread don?t ruin it now. Keef
I can see you with an Encore guitar, Keef.LOL! Feck off!!!In all seriousness, I played a Squire bass for years, that I loved, but never liked the strats. As for Epiphone, I am in love with my friend's SG, and plan to buy it off him. He also has a lovely Epipone Slash signature Les Paul. But I do love the Gibsons! lozzyloz
What!! You can afford a bath during a recession? It's in the garden for us, hosing with the rainwater from the water butt. Brendan
That particular piece of real-estate will remain strictly off the market until all other possible options have been exhausted. And even then it will only be let on a short term basis. Moos
Hate to be pernickety, gg, but surely a Birkin is a Handbag. Said on one knee with head reverentially bowed. giggirl
Moos - you're absolutely right and I humbly apologise. Birkin should always be with a capital H. I can't actually get on bended knee right now because my boss is looking at me and he thinks I'm working on next year's budget. He will probably think I'm praying.
