cookie
I had the wheels stolen from my bike which was locked behind my front wall last night between midnight and 7am. The bike can't be seen from the street, so someone must have come into the garden to find it. Looks like there's a sweep of front gardens going on at the moment, with the recent horticultural thefts reported.I deliberately bought a crappy second hand bike so that it wouldn't be attractive to thieves, but looks like it wasn't crappy enough.I've now got to spend time and money getting the wheels replaced. Very depressing. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44926-more-front-garden-theft/ Share on other sites
strae
Very sorry to hear this cookie. Can you say what general area you live in (appreciate you may not want to be too specific)? snowy
Cookie, I'm about to bin some old 700c road wheels if you want some temporary replacements? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/44926-more-front-garden-theft/#findComment-751143 Share on other sites
cookie
Happy to be more specific. I'm on Fellbrigg Rd.Snowy - thanks for the kind offer. I don't have much of a clue about wheel sizes, and I would normally look at the old wheels to check the size, but they've been nicked. Hopefully wheels are fairly interchangeable, my bike's an old Specialized hybrid. If you drop me a pm I'll happily pick them up. yeknomyeknom
Yeah our buggy was stolen from our front garden a few days ago. Our fault, but not very nice. edanna
We had our doormat stolen a couple of nights ago. Basically you can't leave anything out front at all. 3 little piggies
Stupid I know, but forgot to lock my car a couple of weeks ago (it was parked on the drive) and had sat-nav and blue badge stolen. Sat nav was old so not overly bothered but blue badge is a lifeline. Sophron
Had my motobike cover (?60 worth) pinched, was tucked behind the bins. On another thread there is a debate about letting people take stuff from bins - your front garden is private and no one should be(except bin men, postman) anywhere near your front door. Yeknomyeknom, it's not your fault that someone piches your stuff, OK it's ill advised to leave stuff unattended but you shouldn't blame yourself, it's the fault of the thief.
