Dead bee's :(

I walk over Peckham rye Park everyday and I keep seeing lots of dead bee's on the path here and there and the grass, 1 bee at a time, but such a shame and I wondered why?

Yes - I think Seabag is right. A friend of mine who gathers information for a conservation charity about bees explained to me that they really don't cope well in wet weather. It's a really interesting question!

I think the bad weather must be a factor; we have had a bees nest in our roof space for a month or so but since the constant rain last week all the bees seem to have disappeared...

After a sudden heavy shower a week or so ago, I noticed the flowering shrub laden with bumble bees I'd admired on my way out was still laden on my way back, only the bees were now sodden and comatose. I managed to get about 20 indoors where they were revived with lashings of honey and released in fine fettle. I used tissue paper at the bottom of the collection pot to wick the water away. A magic remedy for weak bees is sugar dissolved in water. Put the mixture on a spoon and leave it near the bee - it gives them an energy boost apparently!
