threadders
I know there is a lot of cat lovers both in East Dulwich & on this Forum.Looking for advise...Whats the best flee treatment to go for ?Online there is mixed reviews on all the products & brands. Some people say Frontline is great, others say its over priced and that the cheap stuff is just as good. Any advise is much appreciated.Meow Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46009-cat-people-whats-the-best-flee-treatment-for-your-moggy/ Share on other sites

Vik
Always found Frontline effective, Medicanimal prices are much more reasonable than shop prices. dulwichbloke
Apparently with Frontline there's recent immunity to it - or so I was told by the vets. They are now recommending Advocat or Advocate (not sure of its name). Frontline didn't get rid of our cats fleas. The other stuff did. Nugget
Advocate is definitely the best. It is expensive but it does the job. PSJ
The flea injection from the vets is the best thing. If you have fleas infesting your home, there are some good traps for catching the bleeders.http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-Flea-Trap Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46009-cat-people-whats-the-best-flee-treatment-for-your-moggy/#findComment-758777 Share on other sites
JimH
Do not use Bob Martin! I bought some for my cat, administered it, read online reviews and promptly threw my cat into the shower and washed it off him much to his discontent. The reviews seem to indicate that people have used it on their animals and have had their cats having fits and seizures with most of them dying horribly! I have no idea whetehr these are authentic or some rival company posting loads of fake reviews but I can tell you that my friend?s cat had a seizure which was horrible and died in my arms and she had been treated with Bob Martin!I took mine to the vet on Lordship lane and got some prescription ones from there and he has been fine and flea free! balanceforlife
Advocate does more than just fleas - probably why it is a little bit more expensive but I feel its reliable. One of our cats gets a skin reaction to some bites which we are not sure of even though she has not got fleas and this is the only product that calms her skin down and helps her. I think it also treats worms too and it also treats ear mites. A good all in one.AJ Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/46009-cat-people-whats-the-best-flee-treatment-for-your-moggy/#findComment-758836 Share on other sites

Callie
Bluelagoon Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> We use Advocate - it also deals with worm and> ticks etcAdvocate does NOT prevent or treat ticks (unfortunately)I know because I too use it for my cats. The only effective treatment for ticks as far as I know is Frontline, so ifyour cats are unfortunate enough to get ticks, as mine have done in the past, you will have to use Frontline too at least for a few months until they are clear. Callie
Advocate is No1 for fleas but it does not treat all worms. Drontal tablets treat all worms so should be used together with Advocate every 3-6 months to cover the rest.Told this by vet.
