I heard an interview on the radio with a union rep and he was saying management assume 5 doors where the postie has to stop and kncok on the average round, but they say some are nearer 15. With the advent of ebay, i'm guessing the no of parcels they need to deliver is getting bigger and bigger, and takes a lot of time as well as being too heavy to carry.

Personally, i'd rather keep the Royal mail and sometimes they leave a card rather than knocking, than lose it altogether and end up with private companies cherrypicking the best bits to offer.

Yes, this happened to me too - was lurking in the hall, dusting or something, card comes through the door saying sorry you were out but I caught the blighter red handed. I said, "you never knocked on the door" and he said yes I did and it went back and forth pointlessly. I KNOW he did not knock on the door.

I wonder what they get out of it. Surely it would be quicker to do the delivery than waste all that time filling in a card and then lugging the parcel back to the van.

Huguent said "I always wanted to be a Cathar"

I can see you in the Parfait role, mounted on a donkey bringing blessings to your dualist congregation throughout Pyrenees; staying one step ahead of the 1st Crusade.

Not sure how Bumbalina would feel about the chaste aspect of the life though ..........

"I always wanted to be a Cathar, much cooler than being a Huguenot. More mountains and castles by far. The Pyrenees have always been just way better than the Alps. More imagination and less cuckoo clocks."

Not really being much fun being a Cathar - hating the human body as the physical manifestation of the devil's clothing of the divine soul. Nice castles though.

Did he have your parcel in the van?

Sometimes our ppstie rings the bell, and only when I answer he goes to the van to get the package.. makes sense

I came home from work today to find a box placed next to my front door with the mat from my doorstep propped in front of it.

The package had been ripped open and the inner packaging also ripped open.

Whoever did it clearly didn't think the books I had ordered for Christmas presents were worth taking :-$ Maybe they're not into The Night Garden or Hairy McLairy from Donaldson's Dairy :)) and the other books were probably too heavy and conspicuous for them to bother trying to remove.

The instructions when I ordered were to leave the package with a neighbour if I was out.

Yes I've complained. No it wasn't Royal Mail, it was something called "Home Delivery Network", whose slogan appears to be "Putting the customer 1st".

I think this may be the same organisation who once left a card with the words written on it "Your parcel is in the bin." It was. Luckily it wasn't the day the binmen came :))

    • Still a large patch of grit clearly visible in the middle of the pool yesterday (Tuesday).  On the plus side - the water was a lot warmer!
    • Thanks for the response and to some who PM’d me. I’m now included on the Patient Participation Group (meeting next in Dec) so I’m going to feed back the comments here, good and bad. Update today to PPG members is that, as some of you have said, there is a new contact in place with GP practices with effect from 1 Oct. That appears to be the driver for some of the changes we’ve seen at The Gardens. From the responses here, though, patients might be getting an inconsistent message from the Surgery; I was definitely told that appointments must be made through the app, and only the app. It was only when I expressed concern that a strictly online service would not be suitable for all, that I was told by the receptionist that she could complete the request for me (or others if needed). Even then, then patients would need to await a text from the Practice. Perhaps we are just teething problems with the new provision…Happy to bring any and all comments to the PPG meeting (although I’m aware that the most digitally-excluded people probably aren’t on EDF!) Thanks folks.
