Loved the sweet shop, lovely sweets despite the fact I once saw an ant crawling around in their tasters bowl! Alerted the man and he got rid of it.

Yes , it is a shame about the sweet shop. I hear that several dry cleaners that have been in our area for many years are shutting.

I emailed the H&G saying how gutted i was that they were leaving and they said they tried to find a new shop in ED but could not find an alternative that stacked up on the numbers. What a little gem we have lost but good luck to the owner on the new business venture.

I always thought the prices in H&G were "silly" - I'm excited about this venture and hope LillyRose does well (I'm sure that when H&G first opened there were plenty of naysayers)!

I don't mind paying a bit of money for some chocolate or fudge or whatever if it's nice and made in small batches. But generic cola bottles/flying saucers/fried eggs/pink shrimps... they're making a serious markup on that stuff.

I think if you went to H&G for Haribo you've missed something.

For the other stuff in jars, ?1 per 1/4 is ok especially considering the selection.

Oh, I liked a lot of the stuff in there... the fudge and chocolate covered marshmallows in particular... and they weren't all that expensive. It's just the bog standard pick-and-mix type stuff which I thought was overpriced.
