Almost Jeremy. But then there are those who can't afford to move, or are tied for other reasons in rural or urban. They moan and groan, hate their surroundings rather than embrace them. Grass is greener mentality. Those people annoy me too. Put up or shut up I say.

Louisa.

God bless you for that.

And I'm off out to meet friends; a new restaurant; followed by outdoor cinema and a bar or two.

Obviously I really wish I was staring at the same field as yesterday and leafing through the Radio Times, but there's plenty of time for all that.

I have never supported UKIP or the BNP.

I was on the march from Trafalgar Square to Victoria Park. 1978

Rock against the nazis victoria park 1978 : the clash, tom robinson band, x-ray spex, steel pulse,

I had bottles thrown at me by The National Front passing the Blade Bone Pub Bethnal Green road.

Now a Noodle Bar. ??

Only last night I was in dispute with a such an 'Arsehole' mentioned above.

A Portuguese Racist who had lived in Johannesburg ranting on about the 'Bleeks' there and living

here in the UK having too much power. In my (me) own country.

Why wasn't I doing something about it.

The likes of such extreme verbal racism I have not heard anywhere for a long time.

He was still supporting apartheid and would like to see it here.

The point I'm making here is not that such discrimination was not around in East Dulwich 20 years ago

but I certainly was not part of it. As inferred above.

However he was not the type of people I was referring to. I was referring the prats that after

drinking 2 Jaeger Bombs think they can fight the world and then go out and kick wing wing mirrors off

of half a dozen cars. 'I'm the f****** kiddie brigade.'

That wasn't around 20+ years ago.

Jaeger bombs may have not been about 20+ years ago but random acts of alcohol fuelled violence and vandalism have been here forever.

Ha well-observed Jeremy! (Do they sell glorified cheese on toast at Brockley Market I wonder...?)

Do they still have Lucky 7s at the Gowlett? If so, you need to get yourself along to that Jocky, always a great night. London is fab and its true, life is what you make it.

(Tho I do sometimes wish I wasn't looking at the same old field night after night, worrying about levels of interest in my melons).

Jeremy and Numbers.

Brockley market sells everything, including things like posh cheese on toast. And you're right jezza, I'd hate it if it were in ED because it wouldn't have the same vibe and mixed atmosphere, it would be a homogenous dull middle class event aimed at the keeping up with the jones' ilk. Middle aged middle class men sporting awkward hipster beards and ironic glasses patronising everyone by buying street food items at a tenner a pop laughing at the rest of us munching on a pack of chipsticks from the co-op. The bar-stewards. Grrr.

Probably thinks The Style Council wrote Move On Up

No please don't, i'm feeling uncomfortable for her/you, and i'm also wondering how much of this isn't about "her"

I'm also getting the resentful-renter vibe here too

And there exactly is your problem.

Resentful renter? Are you on glue?

Good fcuking grief, yes there's a point, and she's far from disappointed.

Jeremy you're just struggling, full stop. Either that or deliberately being a tool, or both.

Oh well done, THAT'S the point. The love in with all things ED is extremely nauseating, it's as if it's the hub of the civilised world, and it's just a so so suburb, as many who've lived there and moved out have found out.

    • This is a remarkable interpretation of history. Wikipedia (with more footnotes and citations than you could shake a shitty stick at sez: The austerity programme was initiated in 2010 by the Conservative and Liberal Democrat coalition government. In his June 2010 budget speech, Osborne identified two goals. The first was that the structural current budget deficit would be eliminated to "achieve [a] cyclically-adjusted current balance by the end of the rolling, five-year forecast period". The second was that national debt as a percentage of GDP would fall. The government intended to achieve both of its goals through substantial reductions in public expenditure.[21] This was to be achieved by a combination of public spending cuts and tax increases amounting to £110 billion.[26] Between 2010 and 2013, the Coalition government said that it had reduced public spending by £14.3 billion compared with 2009–10.[27] Growth remained low, while unemployment rose. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_government_austerity_programme From memory, last time around they were against the LTNs and competing with the Tories to pick up backlash votes - both failed. They had no counterproposals or ideas about how to manage congestion or pollution. This time around they're simply silent on the matter: https://www.southwark-libdems.org.uk/your-local-lib-dem-team/goosegreen Also, as we have seen from Mr Barber's comments on the new development on the old Jewsons yard, "leading campaigns to protect the character of East Dulwich and Goose Green" is code for "blocking new housing".

    • Revealing of what, exactly? I resurrected this thread, after a year, to highlight the foolishness of the OP’s op. And how posturing would be sagacity is quickly undermined by events, dear boy, events. The thread is about Mandelson. I knew he was a wrong ‘un all along, we all did; the Epstein shit just proves it. In reality, Kinnock, Blair, Brown, Starmer et all knew as well but accepted it, because they found him useful. As did a large proportion of the 2024 intake of Labour MPs who were personally vetted and approved by Mandelson.
    • I used Aria recently to replace the basin waste for my bathroom sink. He was super friendly, communicative and helpful - including changing the washer on the new replacement I bought to ensure longevity. Would highly recommend.
