Given the performances of both boxers, Fury won, absolutely no doubt about that.

But Vlad lost the fight more than Fury won it, IYKWIM.

If there's a return, I think Vlad will throw more than a pathetic 19 punches a round and overall put on a better account of himself.

Something to look forward to in 2016.

Quillin v Jacobs is the fight next weekend. I wonder if the winner has the balls to fight (or even acknowledge the existence of) Golovkin.

I read somewhere that UK has more world titles than the USA, I think followed by Japan.

It's 'propa' world titles, not emeritus / silver / 'in waiting' (like the WBA does).

If that's correct it's a testament to where UK is in Boxing right now, and well deserved too.

I don't have any subscription tv channels so have missed a lot of the big fights and was interested to see how this turned out.

I'm probably out of practice when it comes to judging these things but this Aussie being ranked 10th in the world was either a ridiculously optimistic (for him) rating or there really is a dearth of good fighters out there or - OR - he hung his chin out for Haye to smack.

Boxing rankings are pretty mysterious. Each body has their own system, and the top 10 is usually completely different for each one. So you'd usually expect #10 in one body's rankings to probably be around the #40 mark overall.

Nevertheless, I was still surprised at just how utterly hopeless he was.

I was gobsmacked at how helpless the guy was in there. He had a genuinely decent record with lots of knockouts, I thought Haye would win but that it would go a few rounds.

I think for Haye it was all about seeing how he felt in there.

Has anyone seen the in ring showdown between Fury and Wilder? Looks like that fight is a step closer.

I didn't know until today the opponent had been out for so long.

Immediately after the contest on Dave channel (which mag have been a repeat last night as it was quite late) I switched off.

This is exactly why mismatches are to be avoided / the guy has not got a history at world level like Haye so shame on the promoters for risking any boxer's health.

    • David Attenborough has also done programmes on this amazing relationship.  This is from 2010 but I am sure that there were more recent programmes on the Beeb https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p006ry61 Mummy trees are amazing.
    • Have you considered PIV - positive input ventilation. We retro fitted a Soler & Palau super quiet in-line fan system. This takes cool air from the outside ans is ducted into the loft. It is really quiet and very efficient. It is controlled by a reverse thermostat ie one which shuts the system off when the temperature drops to a set level. We are very pleased with it especially as it costs a fraction of a/c and provides greater flexibility in terms of location of vents and ducting.
    • If you’re into nature or just love trees, this lovely program is worth catching up on https://www.channel5.com/show/the-secret-life-of-trees It’s one of those quietly fascinating watches that leave you thinking about the world a bit differently. I had no idea that trees are connected underground by fungal networks. They use them to share nutrients, water, and even to send signals to each other. They can recognise their kind and give more support to their “relatives” than to other trees nearby. They can also remember things like droughts or pest attacks and change how they respond in the future. No wonder so many cultures and spiritual traditions view trees as sacred. In some belief systems, cutting one down is thought to carry serious karmic consequences. When you learn about how they live, communicate, and support one another, it makes sense. The natural world is far more aware and interconnected than we tend to realise.
    • I installed an all-in-one air conditioning unit at my holiday home since I wasn’t allowed to have an external fan unit outside. It actually works just as well, was easier to fit, and although it’s slightly noisier, it’s a good solution overall. https://www.orionairsales.co.uk/all-in-one-air-conditioning-142-c.asp?srsltid=AfmBOopZSVZj1_utAO-Hr4m5M323nRZru6Zmf1YuT4KP2touJ2OLaruU
