re: mothers and toddlers. sounds like a grand idea but to be honest, what time do you open in the mornings?

i think the bishop have it right unlike EDT. edt picked an afternoon at a time when many kids are asleep. the bishop just keep a whole chunk of the pub non smoking during the day and the staff are great with the kids during the day.

all you need to do is stock some organix snacks, make good coffee and let it be known that there is a lovely non smoking section that kids can run about in. a bit of cake for the mums wouldn't go amiss either ... i have 2 kids just a few doors down from you and my sister is about to have one so we would definitely be in there of a morning.

one thing though, i've not checked out your wheel chair/ push chair access, i'm only familiar with the entrance on ivanhoe road. how easy is it to get in? i should really just pop in and ask you!

Bumping this relatively thread-ancien on the grounds of the sterling work they did in hosting us forumites last night (with free food and everything) - and a reminder to people to get down their more often. Having a local backstreet bar is a wonderous thing

    • I personally think is a great idea Bobbly and would love if there was a section for it. I wouldn't offer free gardening under the "for sale" section as I would expect something in exchange and wouldn't expect our cat being looked after for free under the "wanted" section, as an example.

    • I have fond memories of Govinda's I used to go there  back in the 90's (maybe earlier) for an affordable tasty lunch..I was wondering if its still around. Now I have to make a point of going there. Does anyone else remember a really affordable basement cafe run by the church in a street off of Golden Square? parallel to Regent Street? I also used to love the Vegetarian cafe on Neal Street in the basement (Neal Street Cafe?) and there was an inczredible inexpensive authentic Japanese resturant I use to go to with my Japanese friends (who introduced me to it) tucked away behind Long Acre where that brown brick modern building ('modern' I think it went up in the 90's!) now stands that fronts Long Acre and Neal Street..I think it was called Asakasa or something?
    • I wonder where he could be deported to, Hungary the obvious candidate in Europe, perhaps he would get on well with Modi?   Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch and Reform UK leader Nigel Farage both said Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood should look at whether Abd El Fattah's citizenship could be revoked to enable his swift removal from the UK. Farage said in a letter to Mahmood: "It should go without saying that anyone who possesses racist and anti-British views such as those of [Mr Abd El Fattah] should not be allowed into the UK." So just racists views are ok Nige?
