giggirl
I thought you might be more than a little excited.Hammersmith is a great venue if you have good seats - otherwise, not. The venue is very wide, so it's important not to be stuck at the extreme sides; otherwise the view is a little skewed. Can I suggest you print off the Theatremonkey seating plan and have it in front of you when you're selecting your seats. The monkey does not lie.http://www.theatremonkey.com/seatingplanindex.htm Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4892-i-think-im-in-love-with-honaloochieb/page/3/#findComment-159876 Share on other sites
HonaloochieB
I saw Mott there in '73 with Queen supporting, course it was the Odeon in them days and it was all fields around there.I was down the front then. Thanks for Theatremonkey tip, I'll make sure I have to hand when booking. Obviously you'll be wanting the original line-up but they did go through a few changes didn't they. You must be as happy as I am about The Faces reforming this year Hona. Quite a year ahead. HonaloochieB
giggirl Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Where in the stalls and where in the circle? Not> too far back?Actually I noted the seat numbers thanks to your theatre monkey recommendation, but I've left the note at work. The stalls are round about the centre and looked OK, the circle is towards the back, but I took them anyway.Obviously I'd like the best possible seats which is what I asked for, but they were going at a very fast rate, so in the end I settled for what was available for fear of losing out completely. For me it's an 'event' kind of gig if you know what I mean, Mott meant a lot to me, though I wasn't a very early fan, as soon as I heard them there was a connection. Oh and I came to them well before the 'hit' (the music snob will out of course).A lot of the draw of Mott was of course Ian Hunter, who I thought was worthy of hero worship as a young 'un and to a certain extent as an older 'un still do, he's never done anything to embarrass me, he's ploughed his own furrow and actually is a hugely underated songwriter, though obviously not by me.And he looked and still looks great. So I'll be taking my son to at least one of the nights, if not both. He's a fan of Ian and we always go and see him when he's over. He's also a fan of Mott, I absolutely insisted on it, and in fact made a note to that effect on the bottom of his birth certificate. So you see Giggi, it's not just another show where I might dismiss it if the seats weren't OK, I have to be in that building on those evenings, breathing the air, being with people for whom Mott meant so much and whose songs soundtracked our lives. If it was the offer of the janitor's closet with an ear trumpet, I'd have said yes.So bless you once again for asking. I'm off to phone my boy now with the good news.HUGS. giggirl
You put a tear in my eye Hoochie. I can barely remember the time when something was this special for me and, to be honest, I'm a little envious. Very special gigs come along so infrequently. I guess you've waited 35 years for your big nights out and that takes some beating. Also, I am very very very spoilt and I won't get out of bed unless I get the best seats. Jah Lush
That's pretty much how I feel about The Faces reforming HonaloochieB although I feel it certainly will not be the same without the very marvellous and lovely and very sadly deseased Ronnie Lane. I hope you and your boy have a top night out and I'm sure you will.Roll Away The Stone indeed. Jah Lush
Well they've had a few rehearsals and they went very well but nothing much has happened since. I don't think anything will happen with the gigs until late Spring or summer. I'm now in a muck sweat. Holy crap. I may contact TicketBastard and tell them not to entrust tickets to me until a week before the event, on the basis that I don't take proper care of my things.Mind, as I said before I'm fancying The Faces as well, never saw them live, but have the LPs, and as you say, Ronnie Lane not being there will be a massive loss, I would so love to hear 'Debris' and particularly 'You're So Rude' live by him.Fantastic songs. But I'd be hugely keen to seem them, depending on where they play.Keep 'em peeled and keep us informed. giggirl
Don't worry about losing tickets. If you can't find them just ring TicketBastard two days before the event and tell them that your tickets haven't turned up and that it's pretty shoddy service and that you're not a happy camper and it's just not good enough. They'll put a duplicate set of tickets on the door for you. NEVER admit to having lost them or they'll just tell you to go take a jump. Doesn't work with tickets that you've had to sign for though. I would really like to see The Faces too. I was lucky enough to see Ronnie Lane MANY years ago at the Albert Hall with Jimmy Page and Eric Clapton and all sorts of really top people. I didn't know who he was at the time - wish I could put the clock back. HonaloochieB
Thanks Giggi, yes, missed out on the pre sale tickets so will have to take my chances with the riff-raff on Monday morning. There's a lot of mixed feelings/opinions on the Ian Hunter MB concerning this, some feel that the 'opening night' has been usurped and that they've now been cheated of that. Others that any sound/playing problems will get ironed out and therefore the Fri and Sat will be all the better for it.I'm of the view that I'll take all I can get thanks very much, and I'll be doing my best to cop some more tickets on Monday.HUGS Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/4892-i-think-im-in-love-with-honaloochieb/page/3/#findComment-163224 Share on other sites
