Can just imagine the tension in Quids' mind as he spends the evening trawling the various threads and, as he grinds away trying desperaately to compose a witty rejoinder, knowledgable quip or articulate point he notices that one thread has reached its 99th post and so, with a nifty bit of mousework, and nimble fingering, he types '100' and posts. cue self-congratulatory grin.

Quids, I haven't been able to give the matter the attention it deserves as yet. As you know there were all sorts of shenanigans going on about spelling today which took up some of my time.

And before anyone looks it up 'shenanigans' has no double 'n's, I've been up to them for some considerable time, so should know.

Added to that my employers had laid on some work for me today. Bastards.

But I know there's a difference, I can feel it in my water.

Aaah shucks Sean, thanks.

Hona, I think that my good intentions may have been somewhat misconstrued. I'd like to set the record straight; my offer of help to Giggirl and the other bandwagon chicks was genuine and heartfelt.

I regret that I can have been so misunderstood, and will try my hardest not to cause any confusion in the future.

Back to the number obsession.....

Oh Kells, forgive me my foolish misinterpretation of your intentions.

It's just that I've become so protective of the Bandwagon Chicks (particularlry the head of sorority that is Giggi) that I may have been somewhat defensive and not taken your assertion at the face value you intended.

Looking back at it, how could I have been so foolish.

Welcome good Kells and may I wish you many years of loving me and all that, this is a happy day indeed.

Made all the happier now that Sean M's joined in. Finally. Just joshing, SM.

I'm just off now to watch Question Time on BBC1 and the only thing that could possibly make me feel more joyous is if David Dimbleby drops the loaf on Piers Morgan.

Fingers crossed.

Giggi and TLS you're timing as always is immaculate.

It's some sort of sixth sense you both have about when a judicious post from you makes all the difference.

You've changed my internal soundtrack from Nick Lowe's Endless Sleep (#it makes you want to lay face down on the grass so brown, where the sun beats down on the baking ground, to find sweet relief, in endless sleep#) to the life-affirming potty-mouth of Uncle Fukka by Terrance And Phillip.

Indiscriminate kisses and hugs to you good, good people.

Oh no! I was trying to make a pertinent comment on another thread and inadvertently I've been and gone and brought this one back from page 6.

I'm utterly mortified by the whole thing. Please just ignore it.

And anyone who was previously in love with me and all that, you have my permission to withdraw your love.

It'll hurt but frankly I think I deserve it, it's almost as if I must be stopped. For my own bad.

It's a thankless task Al but I have to.

I feel duty bound, which in a way is like being egg-bound but you experience more crap.

Just to balance out the other thread. Frankly if no one else is prepared to love me, then I'll do the job myself.

Is Ying Yang the phrase I'm looking for?

It might be, seems as good as anything else.

(For first-timers please read the above while imagining the author (if one can dignify oneself as such) searching, in a distracted fashion, through the pockets of a large baggy Harris tweed three-piece suit in search of a pipe).

As you were.

    • I'm guessing that most people with pets would not bring either the pets or fireworks into their day to day conversations, to complain or otherwise. Are you suggesting that only "timid" pets are scared by fireworks? What evidence do you have for that, exactly?  Or are you equating being scared of fireworks with being "timid"? And what about the foxes and other wildlife? Is it ok for them to be scared? Firework noise is not a noise that "comes with normal city living" ! What a very strange thing to say! Are you one of the people who have been constantly letting off fireworks recently? I'm assuming you don't have any pets yourself, or you wouldn't have these opinions, but if you do have pets, please share how they react when they hear loud bangs. Unless they are goldfish, in which case you probably wouldn't be able to tell.
    • Well, I know a lot of people in London with pets and I've never heard any of them complain about fireworks.  Maybe what's not ok is keeping timid animals in a metropolis when they are scared of the noises that come with normal city living.
    • We git a ticket when we tried to park there to watch the fireworks.  Anyways we didn't even get a space and so we didn't actually park.  But we got a penalty notice.  We just paid up.  And we won't be taking our car their ever again.  You probably needed a Southwark council visitors permit.  I imagine it would have needed to be booked online B4 or by the end of the day that you parked. Beat thing to do is contact Southwark Council Estate parking to clarify the situation.   I hope your freebie was worth the value of your penalty.
