Would it be worth a call to the Safer Neighbourhoods team? It could be a genuine mistake by a contractor but, having flicked through the Little Book of Scams that James Barber kindly posted a link to, it seems that a lot of scammers do target older people.
Or perhaps they're taking advantage of other installations to fill in gaps in the area and put themselves in a position to market more heavily to potential customers. They may not be standing on the doorstep trying to charge you for work they've done but it would still be a scam in my view. I get marketing through the door from Virgin Media about once a week these days.

    • Another recommendation for Adam on the Dartmouth Road. Have been going there for years. I will never go anywhere else (unless I move home to somewhere far away!) No faff, very reasonal price and nice atmosphere 👍
    • Thanks so much I’ll try that too… might still try getting hold of an air purifier as well if at all possible - want to try cover all bases!
    • The 185 is often the same. But that's why buses sometimes (and annoyingly) stop to "regulate the service". To be fair, it's often due to traffic conditions. If there is not much traffic, the one behind catches up with the one in front.
    • I imagine this is because of the average  additional time involved, due to the styles. You could have asked the reason? I will ask, next time I'm in there.  Many salons have this differential pricing.
