Wanted Carpet cleaner

Hi there,

Just wanted to share my bad experience with Bradley at Perfectioncarpetcleaning.co.uk (07946 328565). Having agreed to clean a rug for me on the phone, he cancelled the appointment 3 hours before he was due to arrive. We rescheduled around his availability but he didn't turn up to the second appointment. I texted and called to find out where he was / what had happened and have never heard from him again.

Given the other recommendations on the forum I would strongly advise using someone else who would hopefully turn up (!) and be courteous and professional enough to reply to messages.

Hi

I wanted to highly recommend Bradley for an excellent carpet cleaning service. I had a green tea stain that I initially called him out for. He went about the work very professionally and followed up to ensure stain was gone after drying. The stain had not gone, although this was no fault of his, I had tried to treat the stain myself unsuccessfully and calked him a while after it occurred.

When he found out stain had not gone, he insisted on coming back to treat stain with some new products.

He was again very professional and even treated a new stain that had occurred since his last visit.

I will certainly use him again for all my future carpet cleaning needs.

Another recommendation for Sylwester at BAMS cleaning. He has done our carpets for 2 years now and a few rescues as well (tea spilled all down the stair runner - not that you would know now). His company also does great house cleaning (he's doing a end of tenancy cleaning for us right now). His number is 07707479906.

I would also like to recommend Bradley 07946 328 565,who came with a recommendation from this forum. He did an excellent job in cleaning our carpets today. We had made an appointment with him several weeks ago, but we unfortunately had to postpone due to our decorating not being completed. We booked him for today and he arrived on time and completed the cleaning of our carpets to a very high standard, our carpets are new again with most major stains removed. He is very reasonably priced too.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
