Do we try and justify our existance and reason for living by making ourselves believe we have a higher purpose in life other than to have fun?

If we don't have a purpose then do you find it hard to justify why we are alive .

So do you believe that you have a purpose in life?

I thought I had a purpose, but it turns out it was a Dolphin...

To take the question more seriously...

I suppose that it depends on what is meant by 'higher purpose'; is there something which I believe I have to achieve that is more important than anything else, for fear of being mark down?

Not really.

Also, who would I have to jusify to why we are alive?

Personal believes may alter ones perspective of course :-)

That's good *Bob*.

I'd probably think it was better if I knew what a PGCE was.

One could probably 'google' one supposes, but one feels so lanquid this evening that one simply can't be fagged.

weed? weed?

I'd just like something to bite on!

Losing 4 Top teeth today (one of which split into "3") has temporarily dampened my natural exuberance and efferescence!

Think I'll take paracetamol(!)

Who said it was a "chap":))

Lets just say I've got my full smile back but eating seems weird and uncomfortable!

I am not religious or superstitious so I don't see I have been given a purpose in life (to do "His" work or "His" will or whatever, and so it is a question I do often ask myself specially when I am feeling depressed, and especially given that I have never had the slightest feeling or need to want to have kids - which to some people seems to be their sole reason for living, to breed.

I do not believe I have a purpose in life.

I did not ask to be born.

I can choose to die.

But along the way so far I have found out that despite the mess others make for me and the fact they insist I hand over money for the things I need or want, meaning I have to work for this money, that really and truly life has a lot of good things to say for it, if like me you're born in a relatively free country with access to food and shelter etc etc.

So I think I'll stick around and enjoy the pleasure I receive from seeing as much of this fabulous world as I can.

When I am fed up, I'll end it all. No purpose. No reason. Just gas water and chemicals and chance.

My only question is where the hell shall I bury all my diaries. I have been writing one every day for 35 years.

Tell me Tone did you go to a local dentist? If so I'd say such work may sadly have been unnecessary (obviously I'm qualified to comment on such things :-|)

I have a purpose in life - I think... do I? :-S

Yes! "Local" to you...the excellent Dentist in Peckham where I have been going for 44 years>:D<

)Hi! to Paula/Asher/Nadine and Ann=Marie if any of you are reading this)...

Trust me the work was necessary!

I have a full smile now and the headache has gone (without the Paracetamol) but my mouth feels weird and I'm counting down the hours to 1/00PM:))

These are going to be "social teeth" I reckon!B)

Jays PeckhamRose, expressed like that you may yet convert me to religion

There doesn't need to be a god, or an accptance of chemical reactions to find more... less prosaic ways of expressing life. We may be here by whatever arbitrary circumstance, but that isn't the same as having no purpose surely?

p.s.As you're enraptured by this(one can tell) a strange phenomenon is occurring in that the first "compulsory" 24 Hours of keeping this top set in has just expired and instead of prising them out(as I was desperate to do last night) I'm going to keep them in for a while longer and practice talking again, whilst lisping a bit:))

    • I think Watsons General Telegraph do two margaritas  for £13 every Thursday. The Great Exhibition also does a margarita deal on a Thursday: https://www.greatexhibition.pub/new-events-1 I've not tried either deal yet.
    • We first used Aaron's services for a badly damaged wall that had gone back to the brickwork due to water ingress from the bay window. We found Aaron initially through recommendation and were very fortunate to do so as we already had a couple of quotes from trades found online that were just ridiculous, clearly just a rip off, so not sure what we would of done without that recommendation. We have just had more work completed by him, two walls skimmed and more comprehensive work where the brickwork was exposed around the fireplace. The wall above the fireplace was the original plaster finish and in good condition but the original plan was to have the whole wall replastered but we couldnt get the tv off the wall bracket so asked Aaron if he could just plaster up to the tv, not ideal but not much choice. Aaron didnt have any issue with that atall and more than happy to do it. Amazingly the join between the new plaster and old plaster is invisible. Perfect feather edge finish.  Aaron is very pleasant natured, he turns up on time, he doesnt mess about and gets on with the job. He works in a very clean manner. He doesnt try and inflate the job to make it more expensive. We found him to be extremely competitively priced. Both jobs have been finished to an excellent standard. The finish is so smooth its like glass. We will certainly be using his services again in the future.     Aaron Manser 07773 410661
    • Yes, and now there's a leak further down Barry Road. Two men from Thames came and stood there looking at it and then went away. Over 24 hours later water still pouring out and no sign of any action to repair
