MrBen oh I do wish I were, might have some influence then! I just thought that particular location if not viable as a pub would be the ideal location for a restaurant chain like Nandos. Particularly as the new cinema would be opening just along the road and it would increase footfall along that stretch. I contacted Nandos and a few other groups and they all got back to me with generic emails apart from Nandos. They seemed interested until I said I was just an interested local resident and then they asked me for details over the lease and if it's definitely closed etc and I obviously didn't have any such answers. I do hope they pursued this building (if it's definitely up for grabs that is) as its a brilliant location for a chain far enough away from the other Indy restaurants not to cause direct competition and close enough for footfall to increase as a result.

I'm not sure Lordship Lane has the passing trade for any real fast food place. It's not near major shops or transport, and won't have a huge lunch trade. The area doesn't really attract teenagers. Even the cinema won't create the volume and the demographic required. I'd have thought Byron or similar might be interested - GBK is doing OK up there. Or another slightly upmarket chain - I don't know the names of many given that I now hang out mostly either round here or at work, where we have none nearby - maybe Wahaca? (In my dreams.)

Nandos were involved in bidding for the site now occupied by Foxtons back in 2007/8 whenever it was. So they clearly aren't concerned about ED having a lack of footfall. I do agree though, Carluccios or Jamies Kitchen type restaurants would suit the demogrpahics better.

FYI believe that there is a Wahaca recently opened or opening soon in Brixton. Not too far :-)

If not a restaurant (Pizza Express, Strada maybe?) - could it be turned into a small school or nursery (probably private)? I just can't see even a big "chain' food place doing well there but it would be good to have something useful and profitable there.

I spoke to the guy selling bread for the Peckham Cart Project in there - they're hoping to rent the restaurant soon.

    • I go there quite regularly (don't ask), on my own behalf and as a chauffeur for family. I have never noted people parking up, going in and then straight out again once registered. Some times of day (and some days) are much busier than others, as you might expect, especially during winter vaccination season.
    • There are a lot of car parking spaces - in order for them to all be filled, it would suggest a local event rather than unrelated shoppers. Does the surgery have records of when the it's full? presume there is some sort of management of it. Perhaps there is a correlation to local activity or a pattern.
    • Does anyone have a compost  bin or 2 they would part with? Prefer the plastic ones that are easier to transport. Thanks
    • I think there needs to be better oversight of this carpark, if it is being misused. A few large fines might help....
