Due to this topic being excessively long, a new 2024 "New Shops in Dulwich / Peckham" has been opened here. Please continue the discussion there.

I've always said we need a cashpoint down Evelina Road. The only one is in one of the mini-supermarkets and that charges you to take out cash. This will will be a welcome addition if it's free.

I actually remember when it was a Haberdashers and that was many many years ago.

It's good to see that more and more new shops are opening in that part of Nunhead, to add to the Butcher, Baker and Candlestick maker (well candlestick sellers anyway) and Fishmonger. It's a nice stretch of road where you can pick up almost anything you need.

Thanks for the info Renata.

There is a new quite randomly placed charging cashpoint in Nunhead - one of those free-standing on the street things joined with a payphone. It's up the other end - outside 2sisters Indian. It's ?1.50 for withdrawals and I've never seen anyone use it.

Not SE22, not SE15 but further afield: a new convenience shop is opening on Camberwell New Rd near the Green (224, I think). I mention it because there is loads of housing going up along that stretch of road and this is the first bit of additional, useful infrastructure I have seen to go with it.

I do fear the worst for bus routes and traffic in general for those of us who travel from SE22 into town down this route when hundreds more people are wanting to do the same.

I don't go to Peckham often but I have walked up & down Rye Lane a few times recently..

I really cannot say I have noticed any development which resembles a pub..

Where exactly is this place ? Is it in or off of Rye Lane. ?

Foxy.

Hmmm in my nosiness looking at the "teasers" on their twitter feed... I think you might be disappointed *sighs*

Popped down there this arvo. It wasn't open though the sign says it's opening tonight, they've still got the builders in and it looked a bit of a mess. The signage looks even worse close up. Dead shabby. Oh, sorry shabby chic's in innit. I'll give it another whirl maybe next week, give them a chance to get fully operational.

It was open and those were the clientele :)

Beer prices are on their webpage...

Amstel 5.0% ?3.90

Heineken 5.0% ?4.00

Five Point Pale Ale 4.4% ?4.80

Symonds Cider 5.5% ?3.90

Murphy?s Stout 4.0% ?4.00

Gipsy Hill Hepcat Session IPA 4.6% ?4.80

Lagunitas IPA 6.2% ?4.60

Nico Orbit Koln Style Beer 5.3% ?4.60

Blue Moon Orange Wheat Beer 5.4% ?5.20

Gosnells Mead (two thirds pint) 5.5% ?4.00

I actually liked the sign. I dunno, get the impression that whatever the did, people would be moaning. Clearly it won't be to everyone's taste, but at least it's somewhere new and it's good to see pubs opening up instead of being turned into flats for once.

    • If we accept what the OP has written, and it does seem credible, the father did not respond to the incident appropriately. His child was out of his line of sight when the OP was hit from behind by the child on a bike. Many of us, having been startled like this, might express some displeasure. Rather than a sincere and concerned apology, it sounds as though the father instead attempted to paint the OP as the problem, even laughing at them. I don't know what kind of message that would send to his child but doubt it is a good one.
    • I’m in exactly the same position.  They badgered me for ages to have a water meter fitted.  I’d prevaricated simply because it’s so tedious dealing with these people but eventually gave in when the communications became increasingly frequent and aggressive and it was done in March 2023. I just assumed I’d then be charged on actual consumption but I received an email this morning with details of the latest price increase and it said, “Since your property doesn’t have a water meter, your bill is calculated in advance based on fixed rates rather than water usage”.  I’m sure they’ve realised I’d be paying much less if they billed me on actual consumption but have not gone out of their way to inform me.  Trawling through their website, for me anyway, is an unutterably tedious chore, but I think I’ll now have to work up the energy over the weekend to pick up the phone on Monday morning and have a word with them.
    • Great Service again from Andy.  Contacted him with a couple of issues with toilet cistern and shower.  He came over and sorted it all out quickly. Good advice given, reasonable charge for the jobs.  Highly recommend Andy!
