As an aside, I went out Tuesday night in Peckham and there were loads of people out and about. Walked back down Lordship Lane and the place was empty. It was like a ghost town. I wonder whether there is an element of 'cannibalisation' going on, with the rise of Peckham eating into ED's businesses?

Yes. also ED suffering from lack of change - same old same old (with the pubs at least).

Peckham: younger demographic, tend to go out more during the week, party hard, live for the moment

ED: older demographic, prefer to stay in with the kids, watch telly, go to bed

I think you're allowed to say it's a shit sign without being a 'moaner', especially if you're also one of the first people keen to go in and give it a try.

I suppose this new venture and it's specific location is either 'the end of the beginning' or 'the beginning of the the end'.. depending on which side you're on.

Ghost Town... ?

I was in The EDT on Tuesday... Arsenal were playing... It was 3 deep at the bar with all bars heaving..

No seats available.. It was like News Years Eve.

Still busy after football finished..

Foxy..

Really? Having never tried it it better be good at that price.

My first thought was "bunch of hipster wank - I won't go in". My second thought was "I shouldn't be so quick to judge and should go in".

It's an imported IPA... so under a fiver is fairly cheap.

I love getting a pound change when buying Heineken :)

Will try this weekend.

I went to the Unicorn last night about 9:00 and it was packed. I really liked it there - bar was busy but the staff were great at getting through the orders (amazing on the first night). Food was going down well from what I could see - but I didn't try. I think they have a "pop-up" in there until they get the kitchen running - like they did at the Hope. Young-ish crowd, mid to late-twenties for the most part but there were quite a few like me bringing up the median!

Its definitely a shabby-chic vibe - like most of the Antic pubs - but I really like that. Prices were average for the area - pint (the hepcat) and a decent glass of wine for ?9:25.

I went in Saturday late late - just before closing :)

I like the layout - went upstairs to have a look around too.

    • I’d also recommend Paul for electrical work. He came round the other week to help us out with a handful of jobs (installing an SPD, new light fittings, installing a dimmer switch, a bathroom fan). His quote was cheaper than what I got from others, he turned up on time and he got the job done quickly.
    • We’d like to add our recommendation for Lukasz and team at L&L Building & Maintenance.  Lukasz has recently installed a roof terrace for us, and we’ve found him a pleasure to work with from start to finish. We contacted about a dozen recommended builders and found his quote very competitive. During the build his team delivered quality work, they were no hassle in the house at all and they kept the place tidy every day. The terrace looks great, and we’re very happy customers. What stood out in particular was Lukasz’s responsiveness, right from discussing quotes to follow-up during the build. Lukasz often checked in and was always available when we needed him.  We’ll definitely contact Lukasz again for future building work and we’d happily recommend him to others looking for a reliable builder.   Lukasz Kugaczewski L&L Building & Maintenance 07926651960 [email protected] www.landl-build.com
    • Yes, I did mention the train, which I now get from East Dulwich to Guys instead of the 40. Depends where in East Dulwich you are starting from which route is easiest! I think it is probably lack of staff rather than lack of hospitals which is the problem?
    • What can be done? How about reporting it to the police?
