A lot of great guitar intros ruined by a narcissistic puke bucket.

And for my money the Stone Roses album is still one of the greatest produced in the last 35 years.

read this on Lennon last week and went "yup"

The thread is about Bands and artists being overrated, not about their personal lives.

I would suspect the personal lives of many Bands / Artists are likely to be just as colourful.

Imagine as a piece of music is derivative, corny and completely unremarkable. I can only assume that the lyrics strike a chord with people... but let's face it, they're a load of hippy bollocks really.

Imagine is a nice song, well done. Not a great song, but clearly many hold it to be so.

Greatness is a rare commodity in his solo output and so much of it is just awful, also true of McCartney (more bland than awful, though he also has more good stuff than lennon managed imo), whereas as they achieved it together with unparalleled regularity.

McCartney is much maligned. I think people forget that a lot of his Beatles songs were absolute belters. And even post-Beatles... Band On The Run is actually a pretty solid record (not great of course, but decent).

To some people, maybe. To me, it doesn't really say any more than a beauty pageant contestant hoping for world peace. Just becuase you agree with it, doesn't make it insightful.

I feel Lennon would of been fully aware such a thing was probably unachievable.

There are many things that are seemingly unachievable...

Dose not mean we shouldn't try. Does not mean we cannot dream.
