Now that really does bring back some good memories.. the Walmer Castle... an absolutely stunning local landmark and not a bad public house either. Christ know's why it's still standing now though. It went the way of the Adam and Eve further along Peckham Hill Street and the Rosemary Branch (oldest pub in Peckham dating back to 1540) until it closed in the 1970's.

Boxing Champion Chris Finnegan used to be The Proprietor atThe Walmer Castle back in The 1970's/1980's as I recall.

Hi

The Walmer Castle and Adam and Eve both use to do fantastic lunches in the 60's. My Grandad worked at the AEU building on the corner of Lyndhurst Way, and as a kid would meet him for lunch, the Adam and Eve did the best Bakewell Tart I have ever tasted. The fish and chips at the Walmer were also so memorable.....Also going into a Pub was such a treat then, as kids were allowed in for food (as long as you were on your best behaviour)such memories.........................

    • Hi Busterb, Yesterday I turned up with a scanner & towels, hoping to take a deceased tabby down to TNV. The body was moved moments before arrival & had not been turned in to any vets, rescues or animal hospitals. I am wondering if this could have been the same cat & if someone just tried to move the tabby further away from the road. Please be warned, viewers discretion is advised. but this is what the deceased tabby looked like: https://www.facebook.com/groups/900015513463302/permalink/3729980853800073/  In any case, if you haven't been able to get someone to scan or take down to a vet, I can scan tomorrow morning.
    • Wholeheartedly recommend Aria. He was polite, responsive and sorted our leak, from an old tap on an old plumbing system, with no bother and on same day.
