Sandperson
Derelict pub and Peckham High St is closed....I'm guessing the old Pharaoh pub by the Pelican building. It didn't look like there was much left to burn last time I went past. PeckhamRose
Idiotically found myself in the diversion there today. So sad, but this pub had a history of problems, but was essentially a beautiful building in its day.Am sure the Peckham Society will have something to say! Louisa
Now that really does bring back some good memories.. the Walmer Castle... an absolutely stunning local landmark and not a bad public house either. Christ know's why it's still standing now though. It went the way of the Adam and Eve further along Peckham Hill Street and the Rosemary Branch (oldest pub in Peckham dating back to 1540) until it closed in the 1970's. Louisa. Freddy1929
HiThe Walmer Castle and Adam and Eve both use to do fantastic lunches in the 60's. My Grandad worked at the AEU building on the corner of Lyndhurst Way, and as a kid would meet him for lunch, the Adam and Eve did the best Bakewell Tart I have ever tasted. The fish and chips at the Walmer were also so memorable.....Also going into a Pub was such a treat then, as kids were allowed in for food (as long as you were on your best behaviour)such memories......................... DeptfordDiva
Ahh, it is the pub i thought. I rescued some kittens from there just over a year ago, they were living mainly in the yard but also going across the roof and inside the building. We never found the mum, lets hope she moved on and didnt have any more there!!!
