trp489
Does anyone have any recommendations for a solicitor for a house purchase? Ideally speedy and fixed priced.ThanksTom Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50887-solicitor-for-house-purchase-recommendation/ Share on other sites
sunshineSJ
I would recommend Julienne Coffey of Bishop & Sewell LLP based in Central London. More pricey than the local ones but so amazingly efficient and switched on. No hidden costs either. esmeonline
Our mortgage adviser (David Jones, recommended through the forum and was excellent) suggested Suzanne McGoldrick, of Mackenzie Jones http://www.macjones.com. She was based in Chester so did the work remotely. We found her to be highly efficient and proactive and would definitely seek her out again. karen104
I would recommend Jason Manley at Haslam and Payne Tel: 020 7828 8725 [email protected]. He was very efficient and quick to respond to all my queries. egoode
I also recommend Glazer Delmar on North Cross Road. I had quite a difficult time with my purchase and they were brilliant with chasing things and keeping me up to date. No-flies
Hi thereWe are local estate agents and as such we have worked on conveyancing transactions with a number of local solicitors. We have found Nick Harper at Hepburns to be good - they are based in Blackwater Street just off Lordship Lane. To be clear, we do not have referral arrangements with Hepburns or any other solicitors, it just seems to us that Nick has done a professional and efficient job when we have encountered them.BrendanNo-flies Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50887-solicitor-for-house-purchase-recommendation/#findComment-797809 Share on other sites
clare@linear
Hi I would recommend Helle Jacobsen. Our move was messy with chain of properties involved and she was brilliant. tallulah71
Local (London) conveyancers are quite expensive. I left a message for a quote to glazer delmar 3 days ago - they still haven't got back to me. one on lordship lane quoted nearly 3k more than what I was quoted online.Shop around Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50887-solicitor-for-house-purchase-recommendation/#findComment-798707 Share on other sites
Mustard
You can also just use a conveyancing firm, it's all they do. A house purchase is usually more straightforward than a flat purchase as no lease. SLad
As someone who had to construct a covenant for a minimally qualified conveyancing monkey at a conveyancing firm I would recommend using a solicitor. We had great success with Sian Egar. Alternatively Helen Hutchison of Irwin Mitchell. miga
Just chipping in to say we used Glazer Delmar, and while they only screwed one minor thing up during the house purchase, we had issues with communication throughout, and a subsequent title issue has been left on the shelf for weeks and weeks requiring constant calls from my side to get any kind of response. If you have limited time, I would avoid using them. lucy_n
When purchasing our house we used Max Engel, http://www.maxengel.co.uk/, while they are based in Northampton we were extremely happy with them - great communication, very efficient - despite our sale and purchase being pretty complicated - and extremely friendly. debs
We just sold and purchased with Aletta Shaw in Bexleyheath. The solicitor was Efe Ejaife but they are all good. I found Efe and her assistant Sue very straight forward, honest and there were no hidden extras. We completed in just over 7 weeks. The final price was what was quoted at the beginning. My sister has also used them for issues around probate and was very happy. miga
Wanted to follow through on my earlier comments from Dec 2014 and say that Glazer Delmar have done a great job of sorting out the kinks in the original issues (which were to do with land title weirdness, and partly down to my oversight). Would happily use again. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/50887-solicitor-for-house-purchase-recommendation/#findComment-852664 Share on other sites
Dodo1
Try Hepburns. Much cheaper than Glazer! But check that they are on the Panel for your lender.
