There is a massive snow 'teddy bear' - at least 8 feet high (and that's in it's seated position!!) on the junction of Upland Road and Friern Road - if you haven't already seen it, it's well worth a detour.

What a shame that someone knocked the igloo on Goose green down last night or early this morning....

I helped build a monster igloo on Peckham Rye yesterday as the absolute antithesis of that structural approach. By brute force and effort we had it up to about 8 foot high and curving in for the roof. We were going for more of a scale over style impression factor, until that technique led to a fairly major collapse undoing hours of hard graft! I ache like hell today!

All worth it though and I was pleased to be able to help in its demolition myself, rather than have the pesky hoodlums take it to pieces overnight. I'll post a pic if I get near a PC with a USB any time soon.

    • The issue for me is about reducing damage to animals, whether wild or domestic, as well as to those humans that also suffer as a result. The sad thing is that there is a compromise available in the form of low noise fireworks- it is the apparent addiction to imposing loud bangs and other scary sounds that I find so strange.
    • I'd love it if  ED was a little bit more Denmark Hill!
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd7rg7wjvgvo I also consider what she said was racist, but worse, unnecessary designed to stir up conflict.  The advertisers are free to use whoever they want to sell their product.  I'm quite happy for them to depict multiracial Britain, or gay/trans friendly (as per London Underground), disability aware etc etc. From time to time I'll see a more traditional product where everyone in the ad is white.  So??
    • Don't think so, Elizabeth line stops there. Think you mean Drayton Green on the old Ealing Broadway  to Greenford push/pull line. Anyway, it was least used station in London a couple of years ago, now it's Sudbury and Harrow.
