Thanks everyone. I love all the places mentioned above and they are fab for breakfast. But I'm looking for somethng festive, Christmassy. Somewhere with a roaring fire, or tree or, I don't know, a theme? I'm not entirely sure what makes a place feel festive. Any more great ideas?

The Rosewood Hotel in Holborn is looking very fetive at the moment (I can see it from my window at work) and has a lovely restaurant that do breakfasts. Might be worth looking at.

If you find a place with a real fire open for breakfast in central London - let me know!

    • Well thanks for enriching the conversation.  Would you chuck Fah - rage in too for his tax avoidance on his property?   I expect it was lead story on Jeremy Vine too.  Doesn't make it a story, just a bit more of BBC tabloid style sensationalism.  There are numerous real news stories in the UK and across the world.  And now, apt for Halloween, you have summoned up the ghost of Louisa. So for the third time, will you now eat humble pie?
