Yeah, I think there are probably going to be some people who click with it more, who actually like planning everything and entering all the figures. I've just gotten so used to it, and so aware that I have little instinct for being right about how much I'm eating calories wise (or not eating enough, protein wise) without it, that it's become normal to me to weigh/enter everything. Am on maintenance now, and may stop using it at some point, but not for the foreseeable. But I do think you need to be pretty strict about it for it to be effective though.

Congrats on weight lost Mick Mac!

Have you tried asking him to put a paper bag over his head

ah was only jesting MM. in fact it was a thinly-disguised cry for you to post more.

but sadly you won't be reading this as you have taken a forum vacation due to cyber bullying.

PS katanita - i don't think I am suited to planning everything and entering all the figues, my brain goes to mush by the middle of the week and I give up too easily. i think you are spot on in that some people will click with it more (and I fervently wish I was one of them) :)

Not even if he covered himself in Haagen Dazs salted caramel.

ok, only a day to go and I'm not quite going to get there. However this morning I was a new low of 12 stone 13.4 lbs so have broken the 13 stone barrier.

Will take stock now and decide if I'm going to go for the 12.7 in March - but you'd hardly see me if I was 12.7 so I'm having to think about that.

I'm rewarding myself with a big weekend watching rugby and drinking beer now. :)

Well done Mick Mac! Has anyone tried Slimming World? I've been doing it since 5th January and have lost 5lbs. I know it doesn't sound like a lot but given that I've been able to eat more or less what I want while following a few simple rules I think it really works. I'm pretty sure I could lose a lot more in a shorter space of time if I cut out my mid-afternoon chocolate bar and wine but I'm pretty happy with the pace so far.

    • Silver swim is still a lane swim.  However, the slow lane is pretty relaxed. I have recently had a knee replacement, so I mostly walk in this lane exercising my leg on the way!  You can book a week in advance i.e. for a Tuesday swim, you can book on the Monday a week prior after 10pm.  Likewise for the Thursday swim, you can book on the Weds a week prior after 10pm.  It gets booked up pretty quickly, there often aren't any places the day after booking opens.  Other than that, keep an eye open for cancellations, especially a day prior. Good luck!
    • How can councils reduce social housing element? Is this just London or through out UK? Housebuilders making enough money as it is!!  When are housebuilders going to understand their social responsibilities — with a shortage of property throughout UK, guess like everything, does not matter whuch Govt in charge… back handers, mates blah blah.. Been going on for years…  Europe as a whole, well most of them can find ways of supporting homeless with pods etc, turn containers into housing and we in UK? Do what? Govt - all for some extraordinary reason are not accountable for mis using tax payers money.. NHS not held accountable either for mis use of funds and yet, we expect and complain if  overworked doctors, nurses etc are doing their best in a very difficult situation. Years ago, wrote a paper on elderly care, bed blocking, dementia and no plans going forward to accommodate or in deed plans in place to sort out social care.. No wonder, medical professions are looking to work or relocate abroad..  Simply do not get it at all.. changing names of govt departments to something what? Acceptable in 21century is not going to solve the problems… Same goes for police, fire department, ambulances, schools etc.. only sector that seems to be having and have had for years, monies and support is sport…  Education is in same situation - having to ask for donations for books, musical instruments etc and now expected to train toddlers in how to use utensils for food, provide food and train/assist  potty training to use of toilets…plus normal teacher and or assistant duties. Not even going to go down route of SEN needs… Rant over..
    • I completely agree.  Mickey did some work for a couple I know and from this, I asked him to do some plastering for me.  He works to a really high standard, is reliable, fair priced and very clean and considerate.  He does the work himself, so you do not get random people coming to your home.  If you are looking for a trades person MJ Lawless Plastering Services is your person.  His number is 07930 678 989
