Surely it should be Me the secret matchmaking Fairy who gets the front pew at potential nuptials...... and by the way he IS a good father!!! as for our chefs the reason we don't allow them to interact too often with customers is because they have extremely gorgeous french accents and the women love it and the men get a little jealous!!!!!!Cliched but vrai...tres vrai!! Incidentally I am NOT one of said french chefs in case my stunning use of the french language confused you!

SMF

P.S yes he does remember you

Mi snotrag su snotrag, Moos.

Ooo this is exciting.

He does remember you thinlizzy, what's your next move...?

Can't wait to see what happens.

And SeanMac, if we had a thread mentioning everyone you think is a hottie behind bars (the serving booze kind not the prison kind) or elsewhere in East Dulwich there would be room for anything else on the forum!

In reality, some women tend to get a bit more freaked out if they think someone may be "watching them" (at least, I think so). And also sometimes men may be more likely to cross the line when discussing the object of their secret affections.

that is an outrageous statement young lady!

Now, don't make me go back through all your posts and pick out every time you've called someone a hottie, because you know I'm obsessive enough.

Not saying there's anything wrong with it, but you are a man who appreciates a pretty girl.

SMF here again....I am really going to have to be careful or I will be in trouble !!! Of course you are still able to come in for Chips and coffee ( and mayo Steve said!) thinlizzy though I should warn you there is now interest being shown from other quarters!!!! I think Steve is feeling a little nervous every time the door swings open now!!!! I am now thinking of hanging up my SMF wings though will happily take them out and dust them off should anyone else need my help...

Be lucky in love ....is that a contradiction in terms??? SMF xx

Oh no -- that's terrible -- I haven't been in since that Saturday afternoon, and I promise I'm not a mad stalker with a bunny in her handbag :) I do feel really guilty that I've made him a bit infamous on here, without his permission eek! Anyway, I think it was the Valentine spirit that got to me :) Haven't really got the time for a man at the minute unfortunately -- but it is nice to tell someone they are cute :)

Steady on TL, quoting David Brent is not atttractive in a woman.

Let's hope he doesn't see that thread where you let yourself get cheeked up by a kid.

No

.......he won't be enjoying this now....TL lock this thread and bale out..............(boiling bunnies image and thinlizzie merging.....sorry..)

stop now with your dignity intact and you might be in with a chance.....

Oh....& he'll think you've lost interest.

    • But all those examples sell a wide variety of things,  and mostly they are well spread out along Lordship Lane. These two shops both sell one very specific thing, albeit in different flavours, and are just across the road from each other. I don't think you can compare the distribution of shops in Roman times to the distribution of shops in Lordship Lane in the twenty first century. Well, you can, but it doesn't feel very appropriate. Haa anybody asked the first shop how they feel? Are they happy about the "healthy competition" ?
    • ED is included in the 17 August closure set (or just possibly 15 August, depending on which part of the page you trust more) listed at https://metro.co.uk/2025/07/25/full-list-25-poundland-stores-confirmed-close-august-23753048/. Here incidentally are some snippets from their annual reports, at https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02495645/filing-history. 2022: " during the period we opened 41 stores and closed 43 loss-making/under-performing stores.  At the period-end we were trading from 821 stores in the UK, IoM and ROI. ... "We renogotiated 82 leases in the year, saving on average 45% versus the prior lease agreement..." 2023: "We also continued to improve our market footprint through sourcing better store locations, opening 53 and closing 51 stores during the year." 2024:  "The ex-Wilco stores acquired in the prior year have formed a core part of this strategy to expand our store network.  We favour quality over quantity and during the period we opened 84 stores and closed 71 loss-making/under-performing ones."
    • Ha! After I posted this, I thought of lots more examples. Screwfix and the hardware store? Mrs Robinson and Jumping Bean? Chemists, plant shops, hairdressers...  the list goes on... it's good to have healthy competition  Ooooh! Two cheese shops
    • You've got a point.  Thinking Leyland and Screwfix too but this felt different.
