My 8 year old has been going to South London Dance Studios since the age of 3 and has done ballet, modern and tap.

However, she has now been banned from ever participating in another show (because we had to pull out as she wants to miss one practice session to attend a friend?s party). She loves dancing and has enjoyed doing shows / exams so she cannot stay there.

I have looked at some of the schools locally and many seem to cater for younger children or only do ballet. Does anybody have any recommendations for schools where she will be able to continue with what she was doing - but perhaps with a bit less pressure?

Thanks

To be fair to SLDS parents are informed that practice lessons for shows cannot be missed before they sign up their child for the shows. SLDS shows are of amazing standard and no child whatever size, shape or experience is ever excluded if they agree to commit to the practice schedule. Several hundred children take part in these shows and I can understand that attendance is crucial not only to keep up standards but to make it fair to everyone.

My eldest has taken part in three shows and my little one in one show. They are just buzzing for days and weeks after the show. The skills they learn - team work, discipline, dance techniques, friendships they make and experiences they have are second to none. My little one was always so shy and the show has given her such a boost in confidence it is amazing to see. Signing up to SLDS shows is a commitment, but it is worth it and my girls can't wait for the next one!

    • Went to a fireworks display maybe 20 years ago at the Crystal Palace, it wasn't bonfire night, can't remember why it was being held, Capital Radio were there. There were people hanging from a crane, classical music, and quiet fireworks,  It was lovely, still dramatic with the colours but no loud bangs. Not sure why this hasn't become the norm.

    • Nadia did a great job tidying up my very very overgrown yard. (See the before and after photos). I live in New Zealand and my tenants said a neighbour has been complaining about the out of control ivy. Nadia was easy to contact so over WhatsApp, managed to liaise between me and my tenants. Her quote was reasonable for the amount of work that needed doing, and the end result is great! She sent photos throughout so I could track progress. Would highly recommend her to others.
