But Mike, you don't understand. This used to be a receptacle of serious debate. The key issues of the day were put to the sword - the sword of truth. Men listened, argued and then shook hands - whilst women looked-on and swooned. And now? Now it's nothing but the gutter-talk of the masses. It used to be Question Time with a Pinot Noir. Now it's Yates's Wine Lodge with a rum and Coke.

Didn't want a bleedin' Hammer in my clique anywayz, I was just being civil..

Invitation Withdrawn..:X

For the record Annaj I never thought you were one of those complaining but recently admin made clear one specific reason for complaints against my postings and I agree with their upset. Concerning your 'pub' I fear and suspect I was one of the posters that drove you away. Looking through the opinions of my posts I suppose my critisizing of 'knee jerk' complaining is actually hypocritical since my reactions to intellectually superior responses to my posts can be as Mikecg put it a 'right hook followed by an upper cut' which in all honesty reflects my intellectual inadequacies. However when I'm cornered I bite back viciously so I condone upset in this circumstance.

For those of you who think I've gone soft concerning my last post to Annaj, BEHAVE!

I'm glad someone brought up the quiet room earlier, as that was going to be my point. Started very funny, if a bit surreal. Then just turned in to a really odd little flirt between a couple of forumites, and became a thread I just stopped clicking on. Things role on, maybe some have had their time, deal with it.

Sorry, been asleep all day.

Mike, I can honestly say I've never been ridiculed on this forum. I explained why I'd edited, because I always do, because when I see an edit in someone else's post I always wonder why.

BBW, interesting post. Don't worry, as I tried to say earlier I don't consider myself to have been driven away, more drifting.

As far as cliquey-ness goes, I'm probably guilty sometimes of what Rosie is talking about. I don't think I get into cycles of praise or insults, but I do make references to things that have happened out in the real world when posting, which I can see might seem cliquey. But on the other hand, when I first joined it was exactly that sort of thing in other peoples' post that appealed to me, because it made me think these aren't just people posting on the internet, these are people who have really met and socialised.

    • Southwark's recycling guidance says to put shredded paper in the blue bin in a paper envelope or "small box". I've got far too much of it for that  (confidential stuff going back decades) - thanks to the EDF member who kindly gave me a shredder! It would be a "massive box". I have barely started  the shredding, and I've already got an extremely large bagful.   I've read online that you can put it into  large clear plastic bags in the bin for paper,  provided you  clearly label it "shredded paper" and it is obvious what it is. Does anybody know if Southwark would accept it like that? Alternatively, can anyone make use of it for animal bedding or packaging material or adding to  compost?
