RACE HORSE DEATH WATCH

I detest Horse racing.. It is a cruel 'sport' ??

Animal Aid's Race Horse Death Watch was launched during the 2007 Cheltenham Festival.

Its purpose is to expose and record every on-course Thoroughbred fatality in Britain.

Racecourses With Highest Number of Deaths in 2014

1. Wetherby 9 deaths

2. Southwell AW 9 deaths

3. Cheltenham 8 deaths

4. Worcester 8 deaths

People will say the horses are bred to run and they enjoy it..

Do they ?? How do you know ? They have no choice..

FFS.

Most suffer a broken leg and are put down to prevent suffering. Much better than the suffering involved in most human deaths from eg cancer.

Until that point they are treated like kings - they are never required to work unlike other horses and are lightly raced to obtain best performance.

Are you trying to piss absolutely everyone off DF.

This is something I feel strongly about..

It's not just a little Poke like posting about some trivial matter..

Are you trying to piss absolutely everyone off DF.

Why would it piss absolutely everyone off. ??

You are assuming that absolutely everyone loves horse racing.

DulwichFox

DF, I know you love a good old google

From my understanding a horse has a very strong will and if the horse doesn't want to do something then he won't which would indicate that if the horse runs then he is very happy to do so.

Anyway perhaps the link above will help you get through the Cheltenham festival

    • The Palmerston is open for meals on Christmas Day. I imagine The Cherry Tree will be again. We had a truly terrible meal there on Christmas Day last year which cost us £100 each without drinks, so I wouldn't recommend you book there 😭
    • Wow..has this forum gone down the pan..  Admin??  Two topics which do not make any sense at all.. Survey Horniman and asking for fireworks..       Sorry for fireworks - did not read clearly - my mistake wanted tickets..

    • That’s interesting, Dulwich Dweller; my 70 yr old neighbour told me 2 weeks ago that he’d left work early to go and book in person (being uncomfortable with all the online & app stuff) and was explicitly told that he needed to go away and book online. He’s not the sort of person to be insistent and, like a lot of older people, a bit embarrassed at his lack of digital ability, so he left without the appointment . This is my point about inconsistency, since his experience was quite different from yours. I’m beginning think that it rather depends on who, at Reception, you speak to on day…
