Seabag
Hisar for meat is serviceableBut really, the Tarma & the Humus is pretty low grade gunkSo it's ok, but i'd not go out of my way to eat thereThe Mangal place in Camberwell is better, tho a little salt heavy last time I ate thereIt's hard to beat Green Lanes for good Turkish food, or up by Hackney EmpirePossibly due to more competition and comunity Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56018-koz-what-happened/page/3/#findComment-835708 Share on other sites
Mick Mac
Hisar is good for somewhere to go with the kids, or for a beer soaker on a night out with mates. It has its uses and the staff are very friendly. I like it. I'm sure there is better if you want to search across London, but we are talking local comparisons to Koz and I think it was better than Koz, hence it has won out. stephen509
I liked Koz when I lived in ED.It will have strong competition in Beckenham though. There are already great Turkish places in Hisar, Lalezar & Kemer. Koz will have the biggest size though, so may cater to larger groups. Hisar is run by the original owners of the ED branch too & is much nicer.James Wrote:-------------------------------------------------------> Koz belongs in Beckenham much more I think. njc97
Foxey: the Lewisham cinema closed in 1981. The Deptford one in 1970! By "a cult thing these days" do you mean "in the last 30 years"? In a much shorter timescale there have been new cinemas built at Surrey Quays, Greenwich, the O2 and Canary Wharf. None of them have closed down. Kbabe01
He didn't have a problem with increased rent. He owns the building. The Italian offered him a lot of money for the lease and he accepted. Koz will re open in beckenham. Will be more like the Hisar. A takeaway with a restaurant next door. Jeremy
If I had to pigeon-hole Toast I'd say it was modern British, but as Callie says, the influences are international... bits of French, Mediterranean, middle eastern. Whatever tastes good... Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/56018-koz-what-happened/page/3/#findComment-844830 Share on other sites

Baggs
It could be described as 'ingredient led' in that the menu is defined by quality of available ingredients rather than by a theme, concept or country of cuisine.
