Hisar for meat is serviceable

But really, the Tarma & the Humus is pretty low grade gunk

So it's ok, but i'd not go out of my way to eat there

The Mangal place in Camberwell is better, tho a little salt heavy last time I ate there

It's hard to beat Green Lanes for good Turkish food, or up by Hackney Empire

Possibly due to more competition and comunity

Hisar is good for somewhere to go with the kids, or for a beer soaker on a night out with mates. It has its uses and the staff are very friendly. I like it.

I'm sure there is better if you want to search across London, but we are talking local comparisons to Koz and I think it was better than Koz, hence it has won out.

Nope, it turns out that the guy who managed Koz actually owned the lease hold and can make more money from renting it out to another business and moving to Beckenham.

So not a local business forced out by greedy landlords after all!!

I liked Koz when I lived in ED.

It will have strong competition in Beckenham though.

There are already great Turkish places in Hisar, Lalezar & Kemer. Koz will have the biggest size though, so may cater to larger groups. Hisar is run by the original owners of the ED branch too & is much nicer.

Foxey: the Lewisham cinema closed in 1981. The Deptford one in 1970! By "a cult thing these days" do you mean "in the last 30 years"?

In a much shorter timescale there have been new cinemas built at Surrey Quays, Greenwich, the O2 and Canary Wharf. None of them have closed down.

I didn't say it was - I said it lost out to Hisar.

There's Wuli Wuli and Silk Road in Camberwell for good sit down Chinese meals. And Mangal across the road for fantastic Turkish.

    • Piotr and his team just completed our ensuite and we couldn’t be happier. They were a lovely team to have around and took great care with protection and clean-up every day. Communication was great and there were no nasty surprises with the final invoice despite a few challenges with the room along the way. The standard of work is incredible. We still can’t believe this room is in our house!
