SteveT
I understand now, the 'relief' comes when it's over, in spite of the comics. It is almost as irritating as putting the clocks back or forwards, but as it is only once a year I will go along with it! Asset
Is comic relief like hand relief but funnier? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5632-am-i-just-a-curmudgeon/page/2/#findComment-181174 Share on other sites
RosieH
Asset, you're a genius - for THAT I would donate generously Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5632-am-i-just-a-curmudgeon/page/2/#findComment-181181 Share on other sites
????
Yes, a bit. It raises awareness and money - lot's of people get involved. Personally i couldn't give a flying about the event although the causes look worthy but it's not on that often so let those that do enjoy it enjoy it would be my view.. LegalEagle-ish
I've never watched it before, but somehow couldn't avoid some of it this year. It seems to last for weeks now. It's a bit irritating but glad they are doing something positive really. bigbadwolf
Comic relief just gets in the way of better T.V. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5632-am-i-just-a-curmudgeon/page/2/#findComment-181278 Share on other sites
RosieH
In the words of a far better songwriter than me, why don't you go out and do something less boring instead? HonaloochieB
I'd rather eat my own dung than watch the bastard thing, but I'll bung it a few quid knowing that it will do some good, somewhere. I do that 'privately' of course. I will and of course have bought odds and sods of the merchandise, because I think it will again do some good. It's easy enough to ignore while still contributing, and missing a Friday evenining's BBC telly doesn't represent a huge body blow to popular culture.Though they might have missed a trick this year by not having a Jade Goody DieAthon Countdown special. bigbadwolf
Yeah and none of those so called celebraties had the common decency to push Chris Moyles off Kilimangaro to a comic (not to mention relief) death. He didn't do the honourable thing either. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/5632-am-i-just-a-curmudgeon/page/2/#findComment-181663 Share on other sites

Keef
I got home drunk on Friday, then had a smoke. Next thing I know, they are showing babies dying, and I am on the phone giving 40quid. Oh well.
