That DAMNED machine!!! Does anyone else find it a ridiculous pain in the morning? My average waiting time at the moment is about 30 minutes, and that is after A mini hike towards Forest Hill in order to ensure I can get squeezed on. At the risk of sounding like a real whinger, I am also finding that it often turfs me off at Vauxhall claiming that it had ALWAYS SAID ON THE FRONT that it was terminating there. Grrrrr! I am a pretty chirpy person generally, but really; It drives me crazy some days!

RANT OVER

Lotty, this type of situation requires only one course of action I'm afraid.

On alighting the bus at the end of the line the driver will be looking in his mirror to make sure all the passengers leave the bus. This will give you ample opportunity to creep up to his right hand window and deposit a small stink bomb. When I was at school we had a partially sighted kid who would take ages counting out his fare. The bus driver would often make fun of him so me and my partners in crime lobbed a firework into his cab to keep him company.

Good luck.

I'm glad i'm not the only one who gets frustrated at numerous buses that display a destination then terminate halfway!

Best thing to do is to complain first to driver (although many of the decisions are out of his/her hands), then to the respective bus company and sending a copy to the Mayor's office and TFL.

I have'nt had a problem yet with 185 terminating early, as quite new to the area, but in North London where i used to live, there was constant terminations, all of which i made strong complaints about.

If one does'nt complain or make a fuss about things, then no-one ver listens and nothing gets done.....so my advice, put pen to paper and complain.

You are very lucky Poppy that you do not seem to have had many bad experiences on this route.

My friend was abused and used by schoolkids on this route and even her mobile trolley wasn't a sufficient defence!:X

So count yer blessings is what I say(!)

    • I would leave London, or at a push move back to north London. In SE London if you want to get away in a car you are trapped, always an hour to go the first 10 miles, chugging up to the M4 or round the south circular, which is really just a line someone drew connecting a load of roads. and I know there are trains but first you have to get to those mainline stations, unless you only want to leave London to go to Kent. which I don't.
    • It was you who  made it personal in the first place,  Jazzer. You said you didn't feel safe in the streets,  and you said you didn't go to Central London because you didn't feel safe there. So are you now saying that wasn't "personal"? "Fire from the hip." Another interesting choice of words 🙄 I'm not "demanding" anything! I asked you some perfectly reasonable questions in  response to your own statements. None of which you have answered. Never mind. It seems to be pointless having a discussion with you. It's long past my bedtime. I'm going to turn on my sleep app  and go to sleep 😴💤
    • Hi Forumites, This afternoon someone in a dark blue/black saloon car collided with my parked car on Thompson Road, SE22 9JR. I have a neighbour’s doorbell cam footage of the collision at 14:30 19/09/2025 but am unable to identify the registration plate. If anyone has footage of a car travelling down Thompson Road towards Crystal Palace Road at that time please PM me. Of course if the Perp would like to confess they can also PM me. Thankyou.
