Explain please this "wider phallic manoeuvre". It's not in my edition (which admittedly is not quite up-to-date) and is obviously the only reason why Canada Water could be illegal. FL clearly agrees. Please explain in suitable MC detail why you can claim to have won.

Ah but its quite elementary my dear David. If memory serves me correct it was first used during by Liberated Mornington Crescent Society during the 3rd Glastonbury Festival (it was fringe gathering only reported in the local press). It was considered far too risqu? and puerile until its revival and inclusion in the mainstream game by the Royal Society in 1993.

The easiest way to explain would be for me to take you through the moves we have seen above:

Cockfoster's -> Nelson's Column -> St John's Wood

Successful execution usually leads to victory within 6 moves.

Quite - never can put things in simple terms! One minute they're accusing the winner of trickery and calling for an enquiry (I concede by the way), the next they're defending them using the most arcane rules of them all. Game in 6? Pah! We had same in 3 predicted before and that never happened.

But (grudgingly) - well done Peckhamgatecrasher. Let's play again sometime, though I'll need to review a more recent rulebook with this sort of competition!

Sorry but I Haven't A Clue why nobody else hasn't objected to this reference to Humphrey.

Mis-spelling of that fine fellow Humphrey LYttleton surely disqualifies PGC's thread-winning move?

Referee(!)(?)

I am an independent adjudicator from The Royal Society. This game was called to my attention by one of the players. I've put the moves through the Society's Analyser and technically none are illegal. There have been some churlish and rather silly, wicked and confusifying moves (e.g. the game could have been brought to an end after the move to Nelson's Column [via Monument obviously]).

I have no choice but to reset it to VICTORIA (get it)?!!

Enjoy the rest of the game (shouldn't be too far off now).

    • I never said that. Saying I don’t like some of the rhetoric coming from the left doesn’t mean I approve of Farage et al saying that Afghans being brought here to protect their lives and thank them for their service means there is an incalculable threat to women.    Anything to score a cheap point. It’s pretty pathetic.
    • To be fair we are as hosed as the majority of other countries post-Covid. The problem is Labour promised way too much and leant in on the we need change and we will deliver it and it was clear to anyone with a modicum of sense that no change was going to happen quickly and actually taking the reigns may have been a massive poison- chalice. As Labour are finding to their cost - there are no easy answers.  A wealth tax seems straightforward but look how Labour have U-turned on elements of non-dom - why? Because the super rich started leaving the country in their droves and whilst we all may want them to pay more tax they already pay a big chunk already and the government saw there was a problem.
    • You don’t think there are right-wing politicians fanning this with rhetoric? Really?
    • No party is willing to tackle the "elephant in the room" which is the national debt. It is costing the country circa £100 Billion ANNUALLY to service that debt. That is more than the defence and education budgets. That debt burden has to be reduced which in reality means cost cuts. That means cutting back state pensions, index-linked pensions for civil servants and others such as police, NHS etc. It means cutting back on universal credit and cutting the number of people who are claiming benefits.
