The slow cooker is a joy. As DM notes, cheap meats are made wonderfully edible and good use is made of cheap root veg.

It even turns the Dulwich Park pigeons that DM catches can be turned into a tasty stew.

Take a kettle & fill with live mussels , tip in a large glass of wine & dash of cream, click kettle on and hey presto.....Moules mariner in 3 minutes. Tip into the old & now removed kitchen sink (plug in though) and serve on the fold out picnic table & deck chairs.....yummy
