I have now crossed you off my Xmas card list.

To do this I first had to create a list (as it didn't exist) of forumites I might send cards to, find a site that would enable me to write personalised message-cards to every one on the list (including you), choose appropriately moving and/or witty and/or corny-schmaltzy images and have them compiled into a final list all ready to be sent around Yuletide.

Then I crossed you off.

Not just deleted - I printed the list out and scored through your name with a black biro.

Several times.

Oh dear- and I thought we were getting on so well.

this isnt a thread about likes is it? why would i want to derail my own thread

you want a thread about music you like, then start one. mark my words, you will soon tire of groovy dads invading it, posturing and flexing their intellectual and cultural muscles, making nick cave puns and banging on about dubstep or some other toss that makes them look like bearded middle class onanists

I don't particularly like this thread. It is complete and utter fecking bollocks and started by a another multi pseudonymous poster that has been done over and over again in the past on this forum. "Ooh, I don't fecking like that, well I fecking do". Yawn. Zzzzzzzzz.

Though it hasn't stopped me from contributing and I rather like Snorky's anger and penchant for winding up the twats, of whom there are many, but not me., for I am wonderful and gorgeous and you're not. So there.

I have no desire to start another thread.

I was just making conversation.

What was I thinking?

No I haven't but I've seen 'The Point' Harry Nilsson.

.. but If everything else has a point, well then I must have one, too.

She's a bona-fide musical genius and 'Ys' is one of the best albums ever made. But yes, she can sound like a duck being strangled, albeit being strangled in tune.

Ys really is a masterpiece though.

    • This week's edition of The Briefing Room I found really useful and impressively informative on the training aspect.  David Aaronovitch has come a long way since his University Challenge day. 😉  It's available to hear online or download as mp3. https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m002n7wv In a few days time resident doctors -who used to be known as junior doctors - were meant to be going on strike. This would be the 14th strike by the doctors’ union since March 2023. The ostensible reason was pay but now the dispute may be over without more increases to salary levels. The Government has instead made an offer to do something about the other big issue for early career doctors - working conditions and specialist training places. David Aaronovitch and guests discuss what's going on and ask what the problem is with the way we in Britain train our doctors? Guests: Hugh Pym, BBC Health Editor Sir Andrew Goddard, Consultant Gastroenterologist Professor Martin McKee, Professor of European Public Health, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine Mark Dayan, Policy Analyst, Nuffield Trust. Presenter: David Aaronovitch Producers: Caroline Bayley, Kirsteen Knight, Cordelia Hemming Production Co-ordinator: Maria Ogundele Sound Engineers: Michael Regaard, Gareth Jones Editor: Richard Vadon
