The popularity of "Strictly Come Dancing","I'm a Celebrity","X Factor" etc. for making me a cultural snob.

A friend's daughter told how she and her fellow university student friends rarely watched TV but would never miss the above.

My god! What has happened to the younger generation.

To quote the late great Ivor Cutler "As I grow older I never cease to be amazed at the stupidity of man".

...going into WH Smith to buy a newspaper (or anything) and being asked if I want stamps/chocolate/chewing gum too? er....if I wanted those things as well, I am perfectly capable of adding them to my shopping basket..!? so no thanks mr wh smith I don't want stamps/choc/chewing gum. I may not even want to go back to your store for the newspaper at this rate...

Having a gas card and leccy key in our rented property and finding that the B**stard things keep running out in the middle of dinner or in the middle of the night or when the shower is running!! arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh I just want a normal meter and not have to pay the higher rates for paying in advance, what a croc of weasel shit.

hugs as ever

I think this is a case of not wanting to appear to be snooping at what the person at the till is doing.

Similarly, I would never continue to have a conversation on my mobile whilst someone was serving me (and I see that happen a lot....) otherwise I wouldn't blame them if they threw the change back at me and didn't say thanks LOL.

The man with the funny hat who always gets on the 40 on LL with his briefcase and intentionally sits on the outside seat and puts his case on the inside to put off people sitting there.

It's always busy, someone will sit next to you no matter what, stop being a selfish cu*t and just move over.

Plus as you say, what would happen if you wanted to sell the house in the future? Also, an insurer who will insure you now may not necessarily continue to do so. I have had subsidence, my then insurer withdrew my insurance as a result of the claim, and I had to go through a specialist broker to get insured. I would say it's just not worth the risk and the hassle, irrespective of the structural stability report (which presumably isn't a guarantee?) And don't be embarrassed! None of this is your fault!
    • That's the most off topic post ever 🤣 A lot better than I was, out of bed, still not great, thanks for asking! Back on topic, C123 if you can't find anything within your price range, you could always go out for a non Christmas lunch and take your own crackers (are they still a thing?), party hats (ditto) and a sprig of holly to put on top of your dessert. And a bottle of Baileys or advocaat. You might have to hide that.
    • This is a very thoughtful film about the toxic and traumatic effects of boarding schools on our ruling class and therefore on us. It's pay-for, but the trailer will give you  flavour of it.
