Z list celebrities and smug daytime tv presenters with zero talent putting the world to rights from the comfort of their cosy little London based TV job. Yawn. I'm especially thinking of This Morning and Loose Women here. Awful pointless shows.

Louisa.

When websites change to tablet-friendly format and dumb down in the process, in this case TFL. I don't need a picture of a little bus driving along to show me that it's finding the results, thanks, I'm a grown-up.
Bus passengers who refuse to sit down even when seats are available and instead stand in the aisle or at the door, preventing other, more reasonable passengers, to move down or get off. Is it a recent phenomenon? I never used to see so many seat-refuseniks.

I think most people guilty of this have a fear of being trapped/closed in.

e.g. you are sitting next to the window, the bus is packed, you ring the bell.

The person next to you has to get up to let you out, they can't get up because there are people standing in the aisle. They attempt to get up, but other people are also trying to get off. People are coming down the stairs pushing & shoving adding to the confusion.

The driver just wants to close the doors & move on as quickly as possible. He doesn't care about people still trapped in seats, at the back, upstairs still trying to reach the door.

Doors close, stop missed. I rest my case.

Yes, I'm one of those annoying people who stand by the doors. With good reason.

No, it's selfish and delays others - the driver has to stare into his mirror at every stop just to check you're not getting off. Please don't do it.

Well, everyone would get their stake back. Or use the pot for a collective wreath.

    • A couple of updates to this terrible event:   1) In 2021, two cousins (one from Penge and one from Streatham) were convicted of murder and sentenced to a minimum of 23 years in prison. The Southwark News has a summary of the awful day. https://southwarknews.co.uk/area/dulwich/donnell-rhule-dulwich-knife-murderer-cousins-sentenced-to-life-for-killing-18-year-old/    2) Last week, a female prison officer from Forest Hill was sentenced to eight months in prison for pursuing a relationship with one of the two murderers while at HMP Brixton. https://metro.co.uk/2025/12/15/probation-officer-admits-relationship-prisoner-hmp-belmarsh-25501445/ https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/38203627/probation-officer-jailed-illicit-relationship-murderer-secure-prison/
    • The Commons Public Accounts Committee questioned both the CEO and MD of Capita yesterday, at their last meeting before the recess:  https://committees.parliament.uk/event/25889/formal-meeting-oral-evidence-session/.  In October they'd already expressed concern that Capita might not  be able to efficiently retake over responsibility for the administration within the timescale. Given the joint statement recently issued by Capita and the Cabinet Office I'm not sure that contacting an MP is going to add much, other than venting what I think most of us can probably appreciate of what those affected are likely  to be thinking and feeling; unless perhaps, and I hope it's not needed, to report on deficiencies in the immediate rescue actions.
