El Pibe
I helped a tourist struggling with two wheelie bags (one ickle, one big) down stairs to the C&D platform the other day.Near the bottom she started screaming at me, I turned to her looking a bit shocked and she said- 'oh not you, him'I turned to see her incredibly chastised husband standing sheepishly at the bottom of the stairs.I mouthed 'sorry' at him and scarpered!! Zebedee Tring
"The next station stop will be Forest Hill". What's wrong with "The next station will be Forest Hill?""Platforming difficulties". Reminds me of the old gag "The train now standing at platforms 1, 2, 3 and 4 has come in sideways". Robert Poste's Child
This isn't irrational rage but I'm going to put it here anyway rather than start another 'to the person who...' thread. Irrational upset perhaps. When I got to my station this morning there were problems with trains so I cycled to Denmark Hill to get the overground round to the City. It was standing room only as usual. At the next station loads more people got on and I was pushed quite hard and struggled to stay upright - I'm a bit unsteady at times as I have problems with tendons in one ankle that KCH hasn't been able to fix.As I tried to get myself stable the woman who had pushed me started making comments. I tried to brush them off but she got quite personal. I'm not going to repeat what she said but it hit a nerve and I ended up in tears, which I'm ashamed to say I'm still struggling to shake off completely. I could tell from her instant aggression and tone of voice that she was looking for someone to take her feelings out on, and in her anger perhaps she didn't realise how it might sound to the person on the receiving end.My point is, please think before you vent your bad feelings on a stranger who just happens to be in front of you.
