East Dulwich Police Station

Anyone know whats going on at that place anymore? See all the notices for police horse box unloading but I can't say i've seen them doing that.

There used to be police stables there. There aren't any more.

Seems a huge building for what seems like not a lot of action...

They want to close it in favour of Borough policing.

But the Borough Commander has confirmed that they won't close it without opening a replacement - one that maybe doesn't have space for the horses that haven't been there for five years - and they also plan to open another office further south in the borough towards Crystal Palace Parade.

I miss the horses especially when they used to be out on saturdays on their way to the Den....although I wished they'd saved all their poo for the 'good folk' of Bermondsey

Apparently it?s built to withstand bombs so not going to be knocked down easily.

Would make a fantastic night club! Sound proof too.

I miss the horses too. I read the other day that there are plans to increase the number of police horses in London by 2012 for the Olympics. Hope they stable some of them in East Dulwich.

ED cop shop went downhill when its inmates were convicted of running a drugs ring and banged up.( google if you must )

I think its a lovely brutal & very apt building & would be sad to see it demolished for a range of Urban warehouse living pokey flats with unrealistic service charges & granite worktops ( close to ED station junction2 & the lively Lordship lane area, inclusing the world famous Adventure bar ) - nearly as interesting as the facade of the Functinal yet menacing Deco pig sty on Bishopsgate

The other night I witnessed a rather drunken chap trying to break into the station... it was certainly locked up good and proper - the building that is!

Some people must be there though - i'm sure I have seen a porsche in the car park when I peered through the gates
