we are now free to travel. which broadens the mind. apparently. If you are our age (mid 60's) then you must realise, from henceforth, we are left behind. My missus complains that our daughters use the 'Muuuuuuum salutation as a means of describing idiocy. If they knew the half of what we,singly and together 'got up to' before they were born, they would have a hard job believing it. Lucky for them we will never ever tell them.

addendum: in 2 parts

a) if I had my wits about me at the time and knew then what I know now etc I would never have agreed to a 'family' Christmas when my wife's parents would descend and reduce my wife to tears within the hour and

b) watch grumpy old men/women at Christmason youtube to know you are not alone.

stay strong y'all tis only once a year

I never wanted to hold a snake but was obliged to when my son left the nest and left behind Snakey. His pet from his reptillion days. I was left holding the snake as it were as Snakey needed to be looked after. My holding a snake is on a par with your fear of heights.

The guy/girl who says nothing all bus journey but as the door

opens to get out strikes up a conversation with a long

lost mate whilst everyone waits to move on :)

Great, a thread for me.

Why does everyone (including older people) walk round looking at a screen. Why can't I go to gigs any more (and this will soon include the theatre) as so many people video the whole event, or worse spend their time texting or tweeting their views, or even worse play that candy thingy game.

Why has the anticompetitive Apple corporation got so many of us by the short and curlies. Why hasn't the might of the US legal system / antitrust system taken them on when they are brave enough to take on Fifa.

Why have we made Britain, in particular London, a safe haven for money laundering, in particularly in property.

Where have all the good pubs gone, and why do you lot drink expensive fizzy beer because it is 'craft'

Me, I'd rather spend my time moaning on this forum. None of these points above are for debate, just humour me!

Happy New Year.

    • One of the best of Shakespeare 's plays.  I did Othello for A level. Also seen a number of stage and film versions. Is there any specific aspects of the play that is difficult for your daughter to understand?
    • @Sue think this is your quote.  It wasn't binary, good Vs bad, and Corbyn had a lot of popular support, as evidenced by the previous election. He had aot of good policies, some picked up by others since. He was defeated by a mixture of a right wing press, good targeting the Johnson 'Get Brexit Done" and for some that Johnson was a funny loveable rogue/fool/liar/philander/opportunist.  I wouldn't see choosing the perceived least worst candidate out of the two major parties as being "good sense'.  We imagine that Corbyn would have been terrible, but we don't know.  He would have taken a stronger line against Israel in Gaza, not sucked up to Trump nut on Russia?  Would the UK be better for that?
    • We have had 4 greyhounds - the last one, a bitch, was not speyed so we  had to pay for that at our local vet.  Only one dog was nervous around children and only one was cat friendly.
    • Apologies on the tardy reply, but thank you everyone for your responses and suggestions! Unfortunately I couldn't attend the recent EDF drinks because of work (I know right). But will absolutely keep eyes peeled for the next one and try and come down!
