Why argue when you have polemic? ;-)

Not seen many sound arguments against my polemic either in all honesty - just "We're all at it" ...not true or this slightly "I'm far too cool for disgust"

Can't disagree with your "Needs reform, move on" point (and I do think they should be paid more believe it or not) but I like the mischeouvness of seeing the slimebags slither and struggle and trying insincerely to show a bit of contrition. sadly, I think that the idiots in the BNP will be one of the winners of this

There are a handful of sacking offences, I agree, but in the majority of cases its just grubbing away for all they can get within the parameters of some particularly lax guidelines.

Watching slimpebags slither can be good fun, but the BNP can only benefit if people lose perspective and just give in to anger for it's own sake

If you don't think most people are "at it" in some form or other then who am I to say you don't know what you are thinking - but the evidence of everyday conversation and listening to people suggests otherwise. Just taking the parking fine/speeding regulars - instead of paying up for behavingillegaly they think it is their right to not pay.

As for "too cool for disgust" - well feeling disgust is one thing, giving continual vent to it and anger are another. It's not about being cool - it's about keeping a clear head

Again fair point bob. I've no issue with expenses, I lived in Amsterdam for a year in a second home paid for by company with meals claimable. I didn't grub every penny and I reckon the whole experience cost me in order of three grand (I never got round to claiming my daily allowance for instance).

As I said earlier I think the majority have simply used the system. Some like Kate Hoey and Ed Milliband can even hold their heads up high. Some should be voted out. I hope their constituents do the right thing and vote them out, or better still the parties not put them up for reelection.

Media creation or no the anger is real and they'd be wise to take note.

Quids - Chancellor

SM - Home Sec

Mockney - Foreign Sec

*Bob* - Arts Culture and Sport

That only leaves PM. One hates to put oneself forward but it seems that's the only decent post left.

In order to do the job properly I'll need a Malcom Tucker style enforcer to keep my cabinet enemies in line.

The qualifications are the ablilty to carry grudges longer than high court judges, a willingness to swear like a half a dozen particularly foul-mouthed troopers and a callous disregard for others' personal space.

TLS, could you be persuaded?

You'll have more power and influence that any MP (including MP) and the great unwashed can't vote you out.

Sean Er, your parking point is a complete red herring and a diversion. I'm not against parking restrictions per se. To disagree with illegal application (twice happened to me and been dropped) and the need for it in SE22 (apart from on LL itself) is not the same as fiddling expenses.......

Sorry quids - i wasn't clear. I'm not talking about you, or peolpe who have been victims of the over-zealous parking attendants or anyone who has been wrongfully prosecuted. It was more the sometimes accepted-wisdom of "i can speed a BIT if I want to and it's only the council making revenue that is stopping me going about my business"

ie - disconnect between one's actions and how they are perceived. Ok it's not an exact fit but there is something there

I have every confidence you'll be an excellent ambassador for art and culture. I'm with you on sport though, complete bloody mystery to me.

Sport in this context usually means football doesn't it?

There are a few phrases to throw around, 'schoolboy error', 'silky skills', 'game of two halves' and whenever you mention Wembley you must insert the phrase 'hallowed turf' at least once.

If you lard each sentence with a few 'basicallys' and 'at the end of the days' you should be sound.

Don't worry about the Olympics, that'll all be passed to Quids.

I can tell you're going to make a fine minister.

To be a decent Sports Minister its absolutely essential to set ones stall out, as frequently as humanly possible.

They may be fine, upstanding, competent Guys but I would rid any Cabinet of any West Ham Fans (MP/Quidsy et al) as I still carry a grudge for them wrecking Harry Crippsy's Testimonial Night 25/30 years ago by beating The Lions and causing general mayhem all around New Cross that evening....:X

Excellent choices HB. Are you a spare me the details PM or a spare me your opinion (no comparisons to recent incumbents...honest).

Either way my first act will be to withdraw our troops from their brushfire wars, equip them properly then invade France. Baguettes in Paris by Christmas everyone.

Well that's the grudge carrying box ticked. I can see you're going to make a fine enforcer TLS.

I feel safer already.

Actually it was 1971 so 38 years should qualify for a decent grudge..:))

In researching which year I see there is an excerpt from the famous 1977 Panorama Documentary on Millwall, on You Tube, entitled "Millwall, F-Troop"...and I see one of my Local MP's is in the clip as a young 19-year-old in the Pub Scene!

Fascinating as I know some of the "clientele" in that Pub scene...its on for 2/3 minutes and perfectly encapsulates the intimidating atmosphere of Millwall in The 1970's...(6)

In answer to your question let's just say I'm a pretty straight kind of guy and leave it at that.

Your French plan is an interesting one, but let's start with the Isle Of Man, shall we?

About time we recaptured their hearts and minds, I always think they reckon they're better than us, and that's one thing I won't stand for, cheeky Mancs.

My M8: Douglas was originally from Salford and settled in The Isle Of Man, does that make him a "mancs", "ex-mancs" "manx" current "mancs" or ........?

p.s. His g/f is a bit of a minx but I don't suppose a Minx who is, also, an Ex-Mancs Minx and now a Manx Minx counts does it?

Confused,Bexley...

Now pack it in TLS, Douglas is in the Isle Of Man, as any fule no. In fact so big is Douglas he's the capital of the island.

He's a he's a Manx Manc, and too big for his boots by half if you ask me.

Let's see how much putting on dog he does when he gets invaded.

I know you're my enforcer and everything TLS, but this has strayed perilously close to insubordination.

Edited twice because it looks like I don't go in for details as MP suggested.

I'm looking for a deputy PM, Snorky. You could keep the more traditional lefties in line.

I think Prescott's left that grace and favour flat he had.

    • Here is another article from the excellent Special Needs Jungle (SNJ) with tips for responses to the SEND conversation survey. Including shoe horning in EHCPs which they "forget" to ask a question about in the conversation. And living as we do in Southwark with the huge misfortune of 100% academy secondary schools, some thoughts on this and how unlikely inclusion in mainstream is within the current education landscape. Closing date 14 Jan 2026. And please consider a donation to the excellent entirely run by volunteers SNJ. In my view the government could save money by creating some smaller mainstream secondary schools for kids who can cope in primary school but not  with the scale of secondary, and need a calmer less busy setting. The funding would have to be different - it is currently on a per pupil basis which favours larger schools. But it would undoubtedly be cheaper than specialist provision, and the huge cost to individual children and families (emotional and financial) and to society. https://www.specialneedsjungle.com/tips-help-complete-governments-send-conversation-survey-law/ If anyone wants to take a radical step to help their struggling child, my tip is to move far away: these are the best two schools I have ever visited and in a beautiful part of the country. I only wish we'd moved there before it was too late for my son who had to suffer multiple failings at Charter North and then at the hands of Southwark SEND, out of education from February to October in year 10-11, having already suffered the enduring trauma of a very difficult early life, which in combination with ADHD made his time at schools which just don't care so very unbearable for all of us. https://www.cartmelprioryschool.co.uk/ https://settlebeck.org/ As an add on, I would say to anybody considering adoption, please take into account the education battles that you are very much more likely to face than the average parent. First you have schools to deal with, already terrible; then being passed from pillar to post within Southwark Education, SEND, Education Inclusion Team, round and round as they all do their best to explain why they are not responsible and you need someone different, let's hold another multi-agency meeting, never for one minute considering that if they put the child at the centre and used common sense they would achieve a lot more in much less time without loads of Southwark employees sitting in endless meetings with long suffering parents. It is hard to fully imagine this at the start of your adoption journey, full of hope as you are, but truly education is not for the faint hearted, and should be factored into your decision. You'll never hear from people who are really struggling and continue to do so, only from those who've had challenges but overcome them and it's all lovely. And education, the very people who should be there to help, are the ones who make your lives the most hellish out of everything your child and you face.
    • It’s a big problem all over London. I’ve seen it happen in Kennington and Bloomsbury in the last year. I think there has been some progress recently with some key arrests, but you do need to be very careful when walking around with your phone out, especially, as you say, if wearing noise cancelling headphones. Sorry you experienced this
