RosieH
Are you talking trainers like classic Reeboks, or trainers like a canvas pump? Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6355-fellas-in-suits-with-white-trainers/#findComment-203563 Share on other sites
Annasfield
Gym type trainers. But if i'm honest they all offend me. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6355-fellas-in-suits-with-white-trainers/#findComment-203564 Share on other sites
Jeremy
Another look which is very wrong... the early 2000's phenomenon of a suit jacket with jeans. Popular in bars throughout Essex a few years ago, and can still be witnessed along Lordship Lane on occasion. SeanMacGabhann
Is it any more wrong that ladies in skirts with white trainers? RosieH
Ah, I like a canvas pump with a suit - aka the David Tennant era Dr Who look. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6355-fellas-in-suits-with-white-trainers/#findComment-203568 Share on other sites
SeanMacGabhann
oops - guilty as charged, Jeremy! But black jeans to be fair.. that mitigates slightly surely? Annasfield
Agreed Sean. Just seen one with a nice skirt, opaque tights, green socks and bright white asics. Why? The girls I can half forgive as walking round in heels all day is murder. But I don't get why someone can't splash out on a pair of black pumps. RosieH
Is it not simply a case of wearing your gym trainers til you get to work and change into a nice court?I believe this was popularised in the 80s classic, Working Girl. Moos
What Anna and Sean said. I'm all for walking to the office in comfortable shoes before changing into heels for the day (and to my boss's bemusement have a stack of shoe boxes in his cupboard) but I've bought black ballet pumps for the purpose. White trainers over fine black tights are particularly weird-looking, and the thought of the sweat being generated between the two is a bit nauseating... SeanMacGabhann
because for some of us the memory of being an altar boy and having to wear black pumps - rubber dollies as we used to call them for some reason - is still too raw Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6355-fellas-in-suits-with-white-trainers/#findComment-203577 Share on other sites

I have more of an issue with the fine black tights - for that there is no excuse. HonaloochieB
Unless your a Stroke it's a poor show indeed. But not if your the one that looks like Lurch.I used to sport a black two-piece with a subtle lurex fleck and black baseball boots combo circa 1982.Very fetching I looked an' all. Jeremy
The guys in Blondie arguably pulled it off, but it's not a look I'd be comfortable with personally. Moos
I think it works if you wear quite a trendy suit, and go for that overall look, with good accessories and canvas shoes or the like. But if you wear a classic suit/style you just look as though you've had a foot operation. Brendan
What if your work shoes are at work so you just put on an old pair of skate shoes to commute in and you couldn?t really give a toss about what people think of your choice of footwear? bigbadwolf
Annasfield you are now officially the new forum fashion police. I agree with you over the whole suit and trainers but can I ask your opinion on my 'look'. I wear these with suit trousers.
