Mick Mac
If you think of pubs as relaxed licensed restaurants it's easier to understand families going there to socialise. These are no longer places where men go to drink and smoke and bet. Post 8pm pubs revert to places for adults. Which is as it should be. What's the problem? I understand people want children to behave and hopefully in the main they do but I'd rather have an occasional poorly behaved child rather than a poorly behaved adult such as you are likely to cone across in a non family friendly pub. The fact that people judge these spaces as suitable to bring their children means it's passed as a civilised place to be. If you find a pub with no familles on a Saturday afternoon for example then go there. The Castle for example. But it's likely to have failed the parental scrutiny test for a reason. Jeremy
For me drinking is usually an evening pursuit anyway. Like mickmac says, all pubs are kid free in the evening. As for fazer's comment... if the licensee really is fed up with kids in the pub then it's easy enough for them to ban them. Except they don't want to miss out on the family lunchtime trade. Well boo hoo. fazer71
FwiwThis is a quote from the observer newspaper. The ambience of the British boozer is being ruined by screaming babies and children whose parents allow them to run riot, according to disgruntled licensees and customers. Also m.All pubs are now family pubs.I don't have a problem with kids in pubs if they behave themselves. The problem is the berserker lunatic children who run riot and their idiot parents who can't control their nutty offspring. But then given they are what they are it's little surprise their kids are loopy. Having only very recently had a baby I plan to meet other mates with kids in ED pubs as it's a good place for us to meet. The woodhouse for example is always packed with kids and I love the vibrancy. Maybe I'm getting too old for moody boozers that smell of 40 year old fag ash Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/64183-just-a-wishthere-was-a-babypramchild-free-pub-in-ed/page/10/#findComment-901670 Share on other sites

DulwichFox
The Wood House and likewise the Clock House no longer resemble pubs.. A pub should smell of Ale not babies.. Foxy. Earl Aelfheah
There are still 'old man pubs' about, but they're not as ubiquitous as they once were. There is of course a reason that they're somewhat out of fashion - they catered for a different, less inclusive era. like I say though, they do still exist. Ridgley
I don?t have a problem parents, bring their kids to a pub as long as they are supervised nothing worse than an unruly kid and parents have no control. Catalyst
There are various pubs out there that don't allow kids at any time because of old licensing conditions that have passed down through the years. Craft Beer Co in Brixton is one. nunatak
Oh it is now the 'Old Codgers' with a pint of mild during the afternoon!!What a load of tosh!- from apparently one of the 'new pseudo mice men'(Andrew binnary) with harness and baby on chest. The 'Old Codgers' with a pint of mild do not exist, they last did this after the war and have expired with their medals, thankfully not subject to the ignorance displayed by 'Young 'parents now who have no social graces-place their 'nappy'dressed grubs' on the counter with no thought of hygiene. And the 'New breed of Young' females who will sit as a group(in the afternoon) with a single bottle of the cheapest wine and 6+ glasses ,which lasts for 2 Hours, whilst they let loose any older offspring on everybody else and corral themselves in with a their buggies etc-,quiet often obstructing adult access to the toilets, whilst they breast feed.Do me a favour grow up- from your cocoon.By the way I was trying to find a thread I was advised had been posted on my local pub, the Herne Tavern, re something else when I found your slurry and now see why I have not viewed the EDF for years I have better things to do and this foray has proved it to be a wise decision.
