PinkyB
You are entirely correct, madam, I applaud you! I have to say, though, I hadn't actually thought through what sort of prize I was going to give. brum
DM, whilst I don't condone that e-mail in any way, I can see that some of your posts today were not conducive to the whiter-than-white tone you're now adopting. People in glass houses, and all that. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6447-throwing-a-sicky/page/5/#findComment-207189 Share on other sites
dulwichmum
BBW, I am letting everyone know what has been emailed to me via my blog, because I will not be bullied privately by someone who has a gripe from the forum. I do not accept abusive private messages either.Brum, I am not whiter than white. I brought all of this up because the tone of this forum has gone to pot. I apologised on this forum to Mikecg and said that it was not all directed at him. I do not accept it that I should allow someone to post me abusive messages as a result of this which I am expected to keep to myself. brum
DM, I know you're not whiter than white, as this message to Mike just this morning shows: 'Mikecg darling. Why don't you consider this an omen darling, and leave the internet alone for a while. You would join some kind of club for like-minded people. Perhaps a drinking club, or take up exercise or get yourself a Wii or a Nintendo and some games. Anything. Please... I will give you my son's computer games. Please lovely man, try something else for a while. We need a break.'This was on a thread started by Mike enquiring about a new ISP for his PC. Sorry but whilst this tone may not be so abusive it could be interpretted as inflammatory, to say the least! PinkyB
Santerme; The film is, as you say, fantastic, and those people who only know "Sir Dickie" from his recent cuddly granddad phase would be surprised how terrifying he is in it. My only issue with it is that they fudged the ending rather, but I suppose it was a bit much to expect the Graham Greene ending in 1947, it would have had people leaving the cinema in emotional tatters.Oh, splendid, Newsnight's started. dulwichmum
Indeed brum, I did say that. Then I apologised and said this:"Lovely Mikecg, I apologise. I don't mean to take a pop at you particularly or make you feel bad about yourself. This forum has just collapsed into ruins lately, and I miss it. I am disappointed because it was a genuine secret pleasure of mine for a long time. None of the conversation on here is interesting or relevant anymore. I once read every thread, relevant to me or not. Look at that football thread for example. It is just base and rude. East Dulwich has improved, but this forum has gone down hill. I'm off... Toodle pip."I have subsequently received one abusive PM and two similar emails. I was wrong to single out Mikecg, but he answered the first post I put up about this issue and it just blossomed from there. The forum has gone right off the boil and lots of people are aware of it. I also PMd Mikecg in an effort to pour oil on the water when he first sent me an abusive PM. This is not ok. PinkyB
I think it might be due another read actually, I haven't read Brighton Rock in a long time. The problem is, every time I do, I get caught up in Graham Greene-land and end up spending the next couple of weeks reading all his other stuff, racked by Catholic guilt and doubting the existence of God and my place in the universe. And I'm not even Catholic.Hmm, a book, a blanket, a screwtop bottle of wine, Crystal Palace Park on a Saturday afternoon... I think that's tomorrow sorted. Santerme
Dorset, I am an exile from London these days!If you remember Harbour Lights with Nick Berry of Eastenders fame, it is where they filmed the series. On the Jurassic Coast. PinkyB
Never watched the Nick Berry series, but Nuts In May is one of my all time favourite films! (in fact, don't get me started, I practically know the script off by heart)I've had a few holidays in Dorset over the years, a camping trip to Weymouth aged 7 where I learned to swim, and a couple of New Forest caravan holidays. Beautiful place. Still haven't made it to Corfe Castle in the steps of Keith and Candice though. I don't blame you for getting out of London, I'm a South Coast girl myself, and every year I think about moving back there. Unfortunately the rents are not much cheaper than they are around here, and there are almost no jobs, so it's not really an option just yet. One day... louisiana
Almost felt tempted to put it on, then my f**king Mac went and ate a CD and wouldn't spit it out, so I've been embroiled with that for 40 minutes. Grrr. But sorted now. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6447-throwing-a-sicky/page/5/#findComment-207326 Share on other sites
