Can anyone offer advice on a good piece of classical music to walk down the aisle to? Me and my friend are stumped. Her daughter knows nothing about classical and neither do we. She's got a friend with a violin who's offered to play at the ceremony. I would research it but know little to nothing about classical music. Any help much appreciated. So far we have come up with Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring? Bach is it?

Louisa.

Any reason why classical, rather than something more modern with a classical feel? We used recorded music from a string quartet doing modern numbers and it was rather nice. Why not take a suitable more recent song he and she actually like and get the violinist to play it?

There are a lot of classical walk down the aisle tunes.

They need to be short..

Here is a dramatic piece.. of course it will be a personal choice..

Rondeau (Mouret) Wedding Music Recessional or Postlude

Has a bit of a Tudor edge to it. ??

This was my first thought when I saw the thread title.

Or for something more grand, Arrival of the queen of sheeba

Louisa, yes JJoMD is by JS Bach. Although the whole piece is a bit long for a walk down the aisle, it's a simple, repetitive melody so your friend can probably shorten the solo violin part easily enough, assuming it's published (which I think it is).

How about a bit of Vivaldi?

Live music at a wedding. It's the best!

Thank you all for the suggestions. Plenty here for them to be getting on with. It's always annoying with classical, you read the name of the piece and the composer and remain blank faced, listen to it for a split second and you know exactly what it is. Whatever she chooses, it's got to be shortened as goosey pointed out, and be suitable for solo violin. I'll keep you posted. Keep suggestions coming though please.

Louisa.
