The Warren Evans one, *Bob* is course correct, the use of the word 'solutions' has been vigously lambasted in Private Eye with good reason.

The rule of thumb here is that any company with the word 'solutions' in its title is almost certain to be run by a shower of b@stards.

If you've got ?300 to blow, which not buy a nice piece of proper old furniture with a bit of character to it..? Skip the mass-produced Sunday-supplement stuff which comes in a range of faux-wood-washes - guaranteed to look crap after five years? Worth thinking about.

As in something worth ?300 when you buy it and worth at least ?300 if you want to sell it.

As opposed to costing ?300 when you buy it but worth five pence as soon as you take it out of the shop.


?300 is a lot of money to spend on something which is only one-up from Ikea, destined to end-up being fished out of a skip by a student in 2013.


Only my opinion, of course.

Stop being such snobs!!


Perhaps the original poster already has a load of basic Ikea stuff (like me) and just wants one or two slightly better bits of furniture which are in a similarly plain style? Not everyone can afford to furnish their whole home with "proper old furniture".


Perhaps they don't want to spend every spare weekend hunting around for this stuff. Some of us have hobbies which don't involve antique-hunting.


Perhaps they are busy, and just want to order something online, and have it arrive on a Saturday morning with no hassle (maybe HNHY has one of those "job" things?)


Perhaps they prefer modern furniture.

Both are a waste of money.


Don't listen to that wimp Jeremy, Jeezus trapped in his attic studio with loads of old Ikea furniture strapped together with gaffa tape & overwound perco's twanging his fire doors shut every 10 minutes....what does he know !

Is it better to spend more time and money buying cheap furniture you barely like - twenty times over during the course of your life.. or is it better to buy something you actually like in the first place - for a little bit more - and have it for life?

I don't think I was being snobby. I was agreeing with Bob in the sense that ?300 is a lot to spend on a piece of furniture that prob isn't that well made and that it may be better to source a nice piece - not necessarily an 'antique'. Ebay is pretty easy to search on, especially if you are the sort of person who spends time on a computer e.g. on a forum.

FYI - I prefer the darker one of the two.

No, that depends on how much you like it and how well it's made (and how well you look after it). But assuming (1) and (2) are sorted, (3) will probably fall into place.


And asset's right, it's nothing to do with being snobby. And ?300 is a lot to pay for a small table so Jeremy can't play the 'richer than yow' card.

      It’s a 4 year old on a bike do you really think he is going 15mph. Grown adults complaining about a child who probably isn’t able to string a few sentences together says a lot about the people in this forum. If this member was hit from behind the father was probably walking behind the bike so I don’t get the point of stretching out an overreaction from a child in Nursery bumping into you. Grow up Obviously a four year old should be cycling on the pavement.

      Malumbu,  if none of us were there, does that mean that nobody should post anything on here unless they have witnesses from the EDF? Why would someone post something like this if it  wasn't true? This is not about whether children should or should not be cycling on the pavement. There are specific issues. a) the child was out of sight of the person supposed to be caring for him b) he appears to have been  either not looking where he was going or was out of control of the bike c) if he did see that he was about to hit someone  he apparently did not give them any kind of warning  d)  a person was unexpectedly hit from behind whilst just walking along, which in my view makes him a victim e) does the title of the thread really matter as the issue was described in the first post?  f) nobody is blaming the child, they are blaming the person who should have been watching him g) do you really think it was acceptable for that person to find the situation funny? The OP was not complaining about the 4 year old. They were complaining about an adult's lack of supervision of a 4 year old who was not capable of riding a bike and who hit someone from behind with no warning. Also, apart from reading the OP more carefully, perhaps also choose your words more carefully. Jobless? Lunatic? Charming.

      I have to say, I too am upset about the passing of DulwichFox. He was a real local character, who unlike me, managed to stick with ED despite all of the nauseous yuppification of the last three decades. R.I.P to foxy    Louisa.
