Atila Reincarnate
I used to be a regular in the Clock for over 20 years until the present landlord took over, what a tool he is. Peter and Frances Key ran the place for many a year and had two sons Toby and Miles, both arrogant as feck. Frances thought she was lady muck and Peter was always maoning about how little money he made from the pub game but managed to buy and house in Chichester a boat and seemed to be on holiday every other week. The place used to have agreat atmosphere in spite of mine host being up himself and I spent many a new years eve/day drinking and carousing until 4 or 5 in the morning. I was at the leaving do for Peter and fRances and saw many punters who had been banished to the Herne and the like and hadn't been seen for many a year and haven't been seen in there since. Jah Lush
It's true they lost quite a bit of the old customers when Peter and Frances left. Never really been a regular myself but been going in there since I was a teenager. Nice pub especially in the summer looking out over the Common with a pint of Special. PeckhamRose
I quite like Laurence - why do you refer to him as a 'tool'?He cares alot and works hard, and it's hardly his fault Youngs have done their heavy handed corporate number on the place, is it! HonaloochieB
If Laurence is the landlord then I agree with PR, a nice chap I always thought. Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6711-clock-house/page/2/#findComment-215901 Share on other sites
????
The previous lot acted pretty much like you didn't exist, however easy on the eye they all undoutbly were Link to comment https://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/topic/6711-clock-house/page/2/#findComment-215906 Share on other sites
HonaloochieB
I always found Frances and Louise friendly and welcoming, Peter I never had much to do with apart from one occasion when he was complainig about the additional admin that processing credit card payments was supposedly causing him, I pointed out the advantage to a publican of skint drunk people with access to a credit card and that was just about it.Miles was a prat, but he did like Elvis.
