I think I'm possibly doing ok on Rip. Its STS that I should not have opposed. Just took me a while to believe he was as good as he was.

Of course I will be a big loser on Rip if he does not win the QEII as I might make that my big bet of September. I'm only a few quid negative for September, so might as well sort that out soonish.

No big bets for me Mick, but as I said before Kite Wood will be strongly fancied for the Leger now that Age of Aquarius has withdrawn.

Will stick to footy today, see how I get on with the 3.00 kick-offs, and hopefully 'invest' any winnings on the Spurs v Utd match...good luck!

Probably too early - but put half my stake on at a range of 2.9 to 3.35 - could not help myself.

Will put the rest on when I'm sure he will run but the odds are now 2.0 on betfair - I seem to have taken the odds down from 3.35 to 2.0 :-$ but there was not much capacity available.

Winkle odds-on as 11 stand ground for QEII

By Jessica Lamb12.24PM 21 SEP 2009

RIP VAN WINKLE has been installed as the 10-11 favourite for Saturday's Sony Queen Elizabeth II Stakes with Coral after 11 runners stood their ground for the Group 1 contest at Monday's forfeit stage.

Rip Van Winkle's trainer Aidan O'Brien holds five of the entries includingRoyal Ascot winner Mastercraftsman, while Ireland could also be represented by the Dermot Weld-trained Famous Name.

Godolphin will rely on Delegator after Donativum and Gladiatorus did not feature among the declarations.

Ghanaati, winner of the Coronation Stakes at the royal meeting in June over course and distance, is the sole filly remaining, although owner Hamdan Al Maktoum also has Group 1 winner Aqlaam engaged in the race.

Coral spokesman David Stevens explained the reasoning behind Rip Van Winkle's short price, he said: "Having chased home the mighty Sea The Stars three times this season, Rip Van Winkle sets the standard in our opinion.

"However, the presence of Delegator and Aqlaam should ensure Saturday's race provides a stern test for Aidan O'Brien's charge."

Of the other four withdrawn at the five-day stage, Goldikova, who will contest theTotal Prix de la Foret on October 3, was the most notable.

Queen Elizabeth II Stakes

    • What is it that makes Waitrose so special! Admittedly I have shopped a couple of times in the Orpington and Beckenham one - sometimes buying food which I cannot get else where. Their 'basic range' is not bad. Price for price and quality - M & S.
    • Sometimes a shed or other installation has to have written approval from the freeholder i.e. Southwark, Southwark has (or did have) a Leaseholder Association.   Could also come under Anti Social Behaviour Unit.

    • Hi, Thinking about  going with some friends and was just wondering if folk might like to report back please. Most importantly sound level when busy & is it disabled friendly.  Thinking on a Sunday lunchtime but don’t want a busy busy environment or loud chatter - a couple of friends could not cope. Time can be flexible, if that helps - say 2 ish to avoid above.. Thanks…
